The Perfect Dog Raincoat

November 6, 2017

Happy Monday everyone! First off I apologize that I haven’t posted in a while. Back in August I started a new job and I have been trying to get myself acclimated. It involves a lot of traveling which let me tell you I have a new respect for anyone that travels for work multiple times in a week. I am now done with the traveling portion of my job for a little bit and nothing is better than coming home to my sweet puppy Stella. She is almost two years old and I honestly still pinch myself everyday when I see her because I can’t believe she is all mine. Since getting Stella I have noticed how huge the pet apparel industry truly is, but I also have learned you need to take into consideration one important factor…your dog’s fur. Stella being a toy golden-doodle she is 3/4 poodle and 1/4 golden retriever. Her fur after getting groomed is very fluffy, but eventually turns into these beautiful curls. Most people who I have met shave their doodle’s furs because they are prone to getting matts and terrible knots in them. I have also heard that in some cases for doodles after you shave them then their fur is never the same again. My family has always loved our dog’s hair to be long so I was determined to keep it long. However, this became a problem when shopping for clothing for Stella. The first time it rained in New York City when I got Stella I had a simple rain coat that covered the top of her body with a small strap to go across her belly. This was a standard raincoat that I saw in pretty much every single pet store big or small for rain gear. Upon arriving back to my apartment Stella’s entire legs were soaked and her entire stomach / chest as well. I said there has to be a better option than this. I searched for over a month to find a full raincoat and even considered purchasing a toddlers raincoat in her size, but upon my search I found this gem on Amazon. It is a full yellow raincoat with a hood that has a zipper and buttons and also has black and white stripped lining inside. I have learned from ordering on Amazon dog clothes that most people don’t care if the item covers their dog’s entire back. For me I wanted it to cover as much as possible! The sizing for this suggested she would be a medium so I ordered both a medium and a large. The medium did fit however, because of her fur it constantly would get stuck in the zipper. Needless to say Stella was not pleased with this. I opted to get her a large and it fits perfectly! It’s a little loose under her belly, but I have no problem taking it on and off and aside from the times she does not want to wear the hood on the jacket she stays completely dry! Hurry on over to Amazon now before this amazing dog raincoat goes on backorder again. I guarantee your dog will love it!

Tuesday Shoesday: Rain Boots

August 15, 2017

Happy Tuesday! Well really happy #tuesdayshoesday! I know that I have posted about my love for Hunter rain boots in the past, but I wanted to bring them back again. I was also inspired since it has been so rainy and yucky out today in NYC. Now I know for most of us we normally only wear our Hunter’s in the winter with the snow, but you can still wear them when its just plain old raining. There are so many options when it comes to rain boots today that there are a few key things that I have learned when purchasing them myself. First off check the bottom of the shoes and see how thick they are. This may sound silly to you, but the amount of times that I have heard of people wearing their rain boots so much outside that it has worn down the soles to the point that there is now a hole in them is crazy. Mind you the person who also wore them wore thick socks like the swelly socks with my Hunter rain boots so they were wearing the right socks for the shoes. Secondly look for practicality. What I mean by that is if you are someone that lives in say Seattle where it rains a lot so you will wear them on most work days and then change shoes at work you don’t want to have a huge pair of rain boots by your desk or under it. That is taking up valuable space that you need. This is when I tell my friends to buy the rain boots that aren’t calf length in height but just a little bit above the ankle. That way your legs are semi protected and your shoes aren’t taking up valuable real estate by your desk. Here are some great retailers that have a great selection of rain boots right now for all of your style needs.

Happy Thursday and happy first day of December! It’s crazy how much time has flown by and we are almost in 2017! So you all still have some time to think of your New Year’s resolutions, but until then let’s end 2016 with a bang! One of the things that I noticed when moving to New York City is that especially with the snow and rain and all the different weather climates you need a bag that is weatherproof for all of them. Especially a bag that if you need something while it is snowing outside you don’t have to dig around inside to find what you are looking for. I got this bag a few years ago from Louis Vuitton and since then they have revamped it a little to include different colors and handles to match the color inside. The Pallas bag also now comes in  a smaller version as well. This bag comes with the general shoulder strap if you don’t want to wear with just the normal handles. Louis Vuitton is also offering for purchase a longer strap if you want to wear the bag cross body or just other different shoulder straps for all of their bags in the store. This allows you to change up your normal bag that you may have had for years with a new accessory to it. I personally love this bag because first off it has a zipper on top, but the side pockets are easily accessible especially when it is snowing heavily outside and need to get something fast. This is my go to bag for everyday during the winter and even the smaller version of this bag is a great size for everyday wear this winter. Check out the Louis Vuitton website for all the different color options that they have. I personally would go with a darker color, but it’s all up to personal preference. Hope everyone has a great day!

Hunter Rain Boots

April 21, 2016

When I was in college in Arizona we dealt with the terrible monsoon season and since then I was always in the search of a great pair of rain boots. It always happened that my rain boots were either A) so uncomfortable or B) after a few wears would get holes in the heels. I had heard about Hunter rain boots for years especially when a few years ago they did collaboration with Rag & Bone. What I didn’t realize is that people, especially in New York City, wear these shoes other than just when it rains outside, but when it snows as well! My first winter in New York I purchased a basic tall shiny black pair with two different types of socks. They call them “welly socks” ☺ . I bought a turquoise pair that I deemed for when it rained outside and a black pair that were fur-like on top for when it was snowing. Other than being a little difficult to get off on my own when I get home these rain boots are honestly amazing. I have worn them in multiple snowstorms and rain storms in New York and have yet to get a single blister or hole in the heel! I like having the tall pair because it reaches me right under my kneecap, but I have seen a lot of working women in New York rocking the short high-heeled pairs on the street! Everyone has different tastes, so whether you like the tall pair or even the short pair, these are worth the purchase. I have friends who didn’t purchase the “welly socks” from Hunter and they just wear a pair of thick socks, normally ones they would wear if they were going to be skiing, and that has worked for them. I personally like the “welly socks” because they fit perfectly around the top opening of the boot and never seem to slide around in my boot. These boots fit true to size, but just make sure it isn’t too big on you because the last thing you want is snow or rain water going inside your boot while you are walking ☺
