Steals & Deals: Ugg Slippers

May 19, 2017

Happy Friday everyone! I am so happy that its finally the weekend and that its so sunny outside. Despite it being so sunny outside the one thing that I always wear around my apartment and if I need to run out quickly downstairs are my Ugg slippers. I bought these over 10 years ago before my last summer at sleep away camp. I did this because we were required not to wear sandals to morning line up, but slippers like these from Ugg were allowed. After seeing so many other girls do it I had to get a pair of my own. I figured based upon how much Uggs cost that the slippers would be at least $120. Boy was I wrong! They are currently on their website for only $85! Uggs for under $100? Impossible some may think, but it is true. I have seen so many shoppers buy the “fake” Uggs just because they are under $100, but if they only knew that they could have the real deal for under $100 I think they wouldn’t be purchasing the “fake” Uggs anymore. It comes in 4 different colors, but I personally have the chesnut color. I have had mine since the summer of 2005 and they are still in amazing condition. I do suggest getting their weather proofing spray that they sell on their site, but other than that they hold up really well. Currently on Nordstrom Rack’s website they have a similar pair, but with a more moccasin look for $59.97! I know that it may be almost summer, but these bad boys are worth snagging now before they are gone. Head on over to the Ugg or Nordstrom Rack’s websites before they are all gone. Hope everyone has a great weekend and for those of us in New York City drink lots of water. This weekend is going to be a hot one to say the least. <3

Steals & Deals: The Over The Knee Heeled Boot

February 3, 2017

Happy Friday! For today’s Steals & Deals I want to discuss one of the hottest trends this season…the over the knee boot. We have seen everyone wear them from the Hadid sisters to almost every fashion blogger out there. I was lucky enough to get a pair of the Stuart Weitzman Highland boots in black suede for my birthday, but not everyone wants to spend that much on a pair of shoes. I have found some other options for all of you that give you the same look, but at a fraction of the cost. These boots from Steve Madden almost look identical to mine and are only $129! Even better they also have a pair in two neutral colors for only $99!!!! Snag those babies while you can at that unbeatable price. Nordstrom right now has an amazing selection of over the knee heeled boots under $200. Now just because these shoes are under $200 doesn’t mean you shouldn’t weatherproof them. I have learned that even if you waterproof your shoes the one thing that will destroy them is the salt that everyone puts on the sidewalks to melt the snow. So if you get that on your new boots that are weather proofed just take a towel or napkin and wipe off the salt. If you do that within 12 hours you should be good to go.  If you are still in the market for a pair it is not too late to get yourself a pair. Head on over now before they all disappear.

Happy Saturday Everyone! Now, when you have worn those black pair of jeans for the 50th time this season you ask yourself “is there another option tonight other than wearing another pair of black jeans?” The answer is: yes, there is! A lot of designers over the past few years have started to make leather pants or faux leather pants for those of us that don’t want to spend an arm and a leg on them. The pair that I am wearing is from Paige denim and the front of the leggings are leather and the back are a stretchy thick legging material. For me every time I think of full leather pants I think of that episode of Friends where Ross decides to purchase a pair and then can’t get them back on during his date with a girl. That is literally my worst nightmare, but these have the best of both worlds. They have the comfort of a legging but then they have the edgy look of leather on top of it. These are a few years old, but there are other designers that have made similar pairs recently. If you are interested in getting a pair of leather leggings here are my suggestions. If you don’t want it to look like leggings, opt for a pair that at the waist they have belt loops to make it look like they are leather pants. Second, if you are going for a faux pair try them on in store or just find them in the store even if you know your size. Some faux leather leggings are great price wise and may look great pictured online from the different online retailers, however, when you get them in the store or in the mail if you are ordering online they don’t have the same shine to them as you thought. I personally bought a pair from Amazon recently and when I got them in the mail they looked almost identical to the shiny pair of leggings that I purchased in the past from American Apparel, but the pair from American Apparel were double the price! Thankfully the pair I purchased was returnable, but I have had so many friends that purchased pairs from the fast fashion website like Gilt and Ruelala and they were not returnable so now they are sadly stuck with them. Remember also, if it is a legging it will be more comfortable to wear in general because leather pants don’t have much give in them so if they are tight on you now then they will continue to be tight on you forever. Check out these retailers for some of their selection of leather leggings.

The Strappy Sandal: Fendi

September 26, 2016

When looking for strappy sandals I have always had a tough time finding a pair in beige. These Fendi strappy sandals I bought back in college during a huge blowout sale at Saks Fifth Avenue and since then I haven’t found a pair like them. They are so comfortable that I have worn them for over 6 hours straight before and had not had one single blister or anything! The trick with strappy sandals is to make sure the straps aren’t rubbing up against the skin of your foot in places that could cause blisters or irritation. One thing I always do the first time I wear strappy sandals is put on blister band aids on my baby toes, just as a precaution. This is beneficial especially when you go out. Even though no one will say it your feet do sweat and that is the number one thing that can cause you to get blisters. Make sure though that after you wear your shoes that you clean out the inside of your shoe to make sure no moisture is left from your evening.  If you are looking for a great pair of beige strappy sandals here are a few things I would look for: #1 color – you want to make sure the color is not too light of a beige but not too dark to be mistaken as brown #2 you want it to have a little bit of a platform in front, if it doesn’t then make sure that it has a good arch because if the heel height is too much then if it has no arch your feet will kill you by the end of the night and #3 invest in a pair that you can wear from season to season especially if you think you will wear them again.

Here are some great options for strappy sandals from some retailers:

Coachella 2016

April 14, 2016

Coachella 2016

This weekend marks the start of the infamous music festival: Coachella! Going to school in Arizona a lot of my friends would go because it was an easy drive there, but sadly I was always too late to get a ticket to it. When it comes to music festival attire the thing that is most important is longevity.  A few years ago, I went to Gov Ball on Randall’s island and I knew I was going to be out there all day, but I didn’t expect that it was going to be as hot as it was. Remember: whatever you need you will have to carry with you all day at these music festivals and  the merchandise they are also selling on site are obviously marked up tremendously. So it is better to be prepared. First off, wear sneakers because the last thing you want is to come home after a day of wearing sandals or open toe shoes to have your feet be covered with dirt. Secondly, bring something to sit on when you are there, whether it be a little towel or a jacket that you don’t care about, because there are no seats anywhere at these events. Thirdly, bring something for the night time whether it be a scarf or jacket because one thing that nobody tells you is when night falls at these music festivals, it gets chilly.  Obviously you don’t want to be wearing a long sleeve shirt all day, but you also don’t want to freeze during the night time. A lightweight scarf is the best go to thing to have because it can be folded up in your purse or backpack and not take up as much space as a jacket. Last but not least, you have to keep hydrated! A lot of these music festivals have free water bottle filling stations and you should use these as much as possible. Bring a refillable water bottle with you and even when you aren’t thirsty just keep drinking. The last thing you want is to get heat stroke or be dehydrated. Have a great time Coachella go-ers stay safe  and make sure to cover up with some sunscreen!

Steals & Deals: Atheltic Shoes

April 1, 2016

Athletic shoes

Spring has sprung and so has everyone’s urge to go to the gym and get ready for the summer.  Every season I always seem to buy a new pair of gym shoes, but I always try to find a pair that is under $100 because I know in a year from now I will want a new pair. When looking for great pair of sneakers and at a fraction of the cost, the first places I go to are Nordstrom and Zappos. I love Nordstrom not only for their customer service, but also because they always have a great assortment when it comes to athletic shoes. Now Zappos, I love for many reasons, but the main one is the shipping. They always get you your merchandise within a day or two of ordering it even when you select ground shipping. I have only had one issue with them in the past where I received a pair of shoes in the wrong size. When  I said I would send them back they told me to keep the shoes and they would send me the correct pair, which I received the next day.  If you live in a city where you have a Nordstrom rack, go in right now and stock up on athletic sneakers. I have noticed that around this time every year they always stock up on the latest Nike and New Balance running shoes and they are normally under $60! I will be the first to admit  that I want my  athletic shoes to look great and be fashionable, but remember it’s also important for  them to be comfortable. I have gone through so many different styles of athletic shoes because even though they may have looked cute on me they weren’t the comfiest shoes to work out in. Check out the links below to see  some of my favorite athletic shoes that I am lusting over this season and shop them on my favorite sites ☺. Happy shopping!
