2-5-18: Winter White

February 5, 2018

Happy Monday! Hope everyone is recovering from Superbowl Sunday yesterday and that amazing win by the Philadelphia Eagles. Even though my beloved Miami Dolphins weren’t there I keep telling myself that there is always next year. Last week we found out that we are going to have 6 more weeks of winter…JOY! Just because it is winter and cold out doesn’t mean you can’t wear white. There is always a way to make winter white fun! Like this bell sleeved top I got back on September from Banana Republic. It makes a simple white long sleeve top have a little bit more of an edge to it. Don’t you think? Pair it with a fun jacket to keep you warm.

Every night that I go out I ask myself the same question. Tonight do I want to be warm and comfy or do I want to look cute? Sometimes you can do both! Sadly the top that I am wearing in this picture is sold out but Banana Republic has some other great options for you to choose from.

Just remember if you don’t want to have your sleeves get bunched up when putting on your jacket you should  hold in your hand the bell sleeve in one bunch when putting on your jacket. Otherwise your sleeve will bunch up in your jacket. Trust me this has happened to me too many times that I care not to admit. Hope everyone has a great Monday! <3

Date Night In Winter

November 13, 2017

Happy Monday! I am already getting myself together to go home to Miami for the Thanksgiving holiday, but before here is something that I have learned since living in New York. Now every girl wants to look cute on date night and winter and cold weather is no exception. Just because it is cold outside doesn’t mean that you have to wear a cashmere sweater out. My go to for any date night outfit is all black. This is always my go to for two main reason… 1 its easy to match with everything and 2 black is super slimming. Black is also one of the few colors that especially during winter if you are wearing all black no one will judge you or say you look gothic because of your attire. It is completely normal during winter in New York City to be seen wearing all black at all times. I know that I do the majority of the time.

The easiest way to create a great date night look and still be warm is by layering. I love this sheer top from Zara I got last year that I wear over a black body suit because even though it is sheer it surprisingly keeps me warm when I go out. Yes, I of course wear a jacket as well with this outfit, but I wanted you all to be able to see the beauty of this top.

Another thing that I have learned from living in New York City during winter is that restaurants and bars will have the heat on so despite the fact it may be freezing outside that doesn’t mean it will be cold inside as well especially at bars. This is something I learned the hard way my first year living here and I walked out of a bar without my jacket on and stood outside because I was so hot inside and needed to cool off in the frigid cold. Hope you found today’s post helpful! Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post to hear how I did with my week without sugar and dairy! Have a good day everyone <3

The Perfect Dog Raincoat

November 6, 2017

Happy Monday everyone! First off I apologize that I haven’t posted in a while. Back in August I started a new job and I have been trying to get myself acclimated. It involves a lot of traveling which let me tell you I have a new respect for anyone that travels for work multiple times in a week. I am now done with the traveling portion of my job for a little bit and nothing is better than coming home to my sweet puppy Stella. She is almost two years old and I honestly still pinch myself everyday when I see her because I can’t believe she is all mine. Since getting Stella I have noticed how huge the pet apparel industry truly is, but I also have learned you need to take into consideration one important factor…your dog’s fur. Stella being a toy golden-doodle she is 3/4 poodle and 1/4 golden retriever. Her fur after getting groomed is very fluffy, but eventually turns into these beautiful curls. Most people who I have met shave their doodle’s furs because they are prone to getting matts and terrible knots in them. I have also heard that in some cases for doodles after you shave them then their fur is never the same again. My family has always loved our dog’s hair to be long so I was determined to keep it long. However, this became a problem when shopping for clothing for Stella. The first time it rained in New York City when I got Stella I had a simple rain coat that covered the top of her body with a small strap to go across her belly. This was a standard raincoat that I saw in pretty much every single pet store big or small for rain gear. Upon arriving back to my apartment Stella’s entire legs were soaked and her entire stomach / chest as well. I said there has to be a better option than this. I searched for over a month to find a full raincoat and even considered purchasing a toddlers raincoat in her size, but upon my search I found this gem on Amazon. It is a full yellow raincoat with a hood that has a zipper and buttons and also has black and white stripped lining inside. I have learned from ordering on Amazon dog clothes that most people don’t care if the item covers their dog’s entire back. For me I wanted it to cover as much as possible! The sizing for this suggested she would be a medium so I ordered both a medium and a large. The medium did fit however, because of her fur it constantly would get stuck in the zipper. Needless to say Stella was not pleased with this. I opted to get her a large and it fits perfectly! It’s a little loose under her belly, but I have no problem taking it on and off and aside from the times she does not want to wear the hood on the jacket she stays completely dry! Hurry on over to Amazon now before this amazing dog raincoat goes on backorder again. I guarantee your dog will love it!

If you don’t already please follow my dog on instagram: @HowStellaGotYourWoofBack to see her on her many adventures <3

The Best & Worst Dressed from the 2017 VMA’s

August 28, 2017

Happy Monday! Been so busy and can’t wait to share with you all some exciting news soon, but until then lets discuss some hot topics right now. First I am not going to discuss the Game of Thrones season 7 finale as to not spoil it for those who sadly were not able to watch it last night. All I will say is this…WOW! Even my dog Stella who always watches it curled up next to me was mesmerized by last night’s episode. The other major event last night was the MTV VMA’s hosted by Katy Perry. Clearly no one got the memo to try and not schedule major shows all at the exact same time! Thank G-d for my DVR or I don’t know what I would do. The VMA’s unlike other award shows seems to be where all the attendees take more of a risk with their fashion choices. I am not one to complain, but I do enjoy seeing someone walk down the carpet and scream at my tv “WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!”. In my opinion here are some of the best and worst looks from last night’s show.

Best:

Lorde in Monique Lhuillier

Hailee Steinfeld in Atelier Versace

Demi Lovato in Zuhair Murad

Hailey Baldwin in Zuhair Murad

Worst:

Kesha in Monsoori

Olivia Munn in Nicolas Jebran

Jared Leto in Gucci (In pains me to say this as much as you.)

Now there are still some other looks that I am on the fence about, but these are some of my favorite and least favorite looks. What did you all think of the looks from last night?

While we are all still on the Game of Thrones subject if anyone can find me the dragon costume her dog was wearing on last night’s show I would greatly appreciate it! Hope you all have a great last Monday of Summer 2017. <3

Steals & Deals: Express Bodysuit

August 14, 2017

Happy Monday! Hope you all had a great weekend and are gearing up for the week ahead. I still can’t believe that summer is almost over! Personally I am not ready for the cold weather, but I am trying to savor every moment of the summer I can before it’s over. Now I have expressed my love for bodysuits before and I am here to share with you one of my favorite finds for a special Steals & Deals. Now if you are going to wear a bodysuit I believe it shouldn’t be a full bottom. I don’t want to feel like I am wearing a full piece bathing suit as clothes and I know none of you do either. I have always had a love hate relationship with Express throughout the years, but recently I have loved a lot of their pieces. This off the shoulder ruffle thong bodysuit is something that you all need to have in your closets. First off the off the shoulder trend is something that we have been seeing for over a year now and it doesn’t seem to be going away. Secondly this bodysuit can be worn a multitude of ways. It can be worn as a one shoulder top or even as a strapless top! I have tried it and it works! It is available on Express’ website in 5 colors for only $39.90. Now normally when you see bodysuits like this at such a low price they tend to feel cheap and aren’t as comfortable as what you would like. I am here to say that this bodysuit despite it being off the shoulder which requires me to wear a strapless bra is the most comfortable bodysuit. I had to read the label after putting it on because it is so soft that you would think it was made out of 100% cotton. I personally ordered a size small and it fits perfectly! Click here to head on over to Express website to snag one up before they are all gone. Hope you all have a great day and like me are tuning into Bachelor in Paradise tonight!

Bachelorette Finale

August 7, 2017

Happy Monday! Well let’s be real the thing I am most excited about is the Bachelorette Finale tonight on ABC. Now I have been watching all season long like every year participating in Bachelor / Bachelorette leagues, but little did I know that this year I was going to know one of the contestants. Something that I learned from one of my friends who also knows someone that was on the show is that the roses that they hand out are 100% real! I know there has been a ton of discussion about this on all of the gossip sites, but they are real! If you love flowers and want ones that will last more than one week check out The Million Roses from LA. They do a similar process like Venus Et Fleur, but have a larger selection at all price points. Some of my favorite things that I try to have for Bachelor / Bachelorette nights at my home include Babe Rose. Babe Rose is rose in a can! Who knew? I also love the classic White Girl Rose also created by The Fat Jew. I can’t wait to see what happens on tonight’s episode especially the After The Final Rose special. So who do you all want to win? The better question is who do you all want as the next Bachelor? I guess we will all have to wait until tonight to find out for ourselves.

Bachelorette Monday!

May 22, 2017

Happy Monday! Today is an exciting day because #BachelorNation is back!! Tonight begins the season of the Bachelorette and I am so excited. Crazy enough I know one of the men competing this season for Rachel’s heart and I can’t wait to see how far he goes. I haven’t spoken to him in a few years or I would ask him for some spoilers. In honor of tonight’s season premiere I want to show you one of my favorite cocktail dresses that I have worn to a ton of weddings. Now over the years the girls on this show have had some hit and misses when it comes to their rose ceremony outfits. I love when they all wear long gowns, but there is something to say about a beautiful short dress. I love that this dress is simple with black and white lace, but here’s hoping that Rachel comes out in a stunning red outfit like this one from Black Halo.

All I know is I can’t wait to see what Rachel is wearing on the first rose ceremony tonight, but I am also interested to see what the guys are wearing too. Tune in tonight on ABC and see for yourselves!

Birthstone Necklaces – Opal

May 15, 2017

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great Mother’s Day yesterday and spoiled your Mom’s rotten. I personally got my Mom a beautiful Michael Aram picture frame with a photo of both myself and Stella inside. Needless to say she loved it and it is already up in my house in Miami. Growing up I never understood what my birthstone was. I thought it was just a white stone with a bunch of colors mixed into it, but over the years I have learned that there are different colors of my birthstone. I was born on October 21st, 1989 and my birthstone is the Opal. I never liked my birthstone as a child because everyone would get me the same similar pieces with the white opal with a bunch of blue or purple sparks in them. I have never in my line purchased something with my birthstone in it until now. Adina Reyter has become one of my favorite jewelry designers for many reasons this being one of them. Her pieces are so delicate and simple, but also everyone notices you when you wear them. While working one of the trade shows last fall I passed by her booth and was fortunate enough to meet her in person. I asked her what her favorite pieces were of her entire collection both new and old and she pointed to me this opal necklace. I then proceeded to tell her that it was my birthstone and how I don’t wear any jewelry with my birthstone ever. She then let me try on the necklace and I fell in love. It sat so perfectly on my collar bone and was so small and simple that it was just the right amount of sparkle. I purchased it right then and there and since then I pretty much wear it every single day. Shocking that I went from never wearing my birthstone to now wearing it on a daily basis. She carries other amazing opal pieces on her website right now. Even if this isn’t your birthstone I dare you to say that you don’t love these opal pieces.

Mother’s Day Week – Monday

May 8, 2017

Happy Monday! I know I haven’t posted in a while I have been busy traveling and working on great new content for Just Jodi Style. This week I wanted to focus on Mother’s Day and different ideas you can do for the female figure in your life. Today I wanted to discuss monogramming. Now in recent years it has become more of a trend to get something customized whether it be an item of clothing or even your cell phone. Anything can be customized, but monogramming is something that is as my mom would like to say “old school”. I say this because it is more expensive and takes more time than just ironing on someone’s initials to a top. However, monogramming last a lot longer than a simple ironed on insignia that you can find on Etsy. This past Thanksgiving I purchased these unreal vintage pajamas from J. Crew with their Cyber Monday deals. I found out about these pajamas when my old boss had purchased them as a bridal shower gift for one of her friends. She told me how you can get them monogramed as well on their site. If your Mom is the type of person not to wear matching sets I still believe this is the gift for you to get. It comes in three colors (White, Navy and Hydrangea) and it also comes in both short and long sleeve options. Personally I chose the long sleeve option for those cold winter nights. I will say to be careful when selecting your monogramming and what order you place your initials in. I personally called J. Crew to verify I was putting it in the correct order prior to purchasing them. Since Mother’s day is this Sunday and it takes a few weeks for these to come in if you are still interested in purchasing them for your Mom you can always print off a picture of the pajamas inside your card with a cute little saying that works for your Mom.  Hope everyone has a great day! <3

The Classic Belt – Gucci

March 27, 2017

Happy Monday! This last week I have felt under the weather, but I am so glad to finally start to feel back to my normal self. This past year for my birthday I knew exactly what I wanted and that was the fashion it girl approved Gucci buckle belt. The first time I saw it in the stores it was the larger buckle size and to be perfectly honest I thought it was too big for me. I did not realize that it came in a smaller size until I saw it online on the Gucci website. I was able to track one down in Miami and after adding two holes to it the belt fit perfectly! When purchasing belts I used to in the past by just simple faux leather ones from H&M or from the Gap, but I think now that I am older that I should invest in more high quality belts. My Mom used to purchase my brother and my belts from Gap as kids because for our school uniforms it was required to wear a belt. I personally think she just did that not knowing how much we were going to grow from year to year. If you are going to purchase a belt like this Gucci one I suggest solid colors like black or brown. Its always difficult when it comes to the neutral colors because sometimes a belt may seem to dark of a brown or even too light of a tan that you can’t match it with anything. This is the main reason why I haven’t purchased a brown belt myself. I haven’t found one that matches with everything that I own. I honestly don’t wear a ton of gold, but when it came to this belt I realize that even though I may be wearing majority of silver jewelry the belt worked with my outfit such as the one I am wearing above. Sadly they don’t have my belt online anymore in the small buckle size, but they have a multitude of options to choose from. Hope everyone has a great Monday! For us New Yorkers try and stay dry with all of this rain. <3
