Date Night In Winter

November 13, 2017

Happy Monday! I am already getting myself together to go home to Miami for the Thanksgiving holiday, but before here is something that I have learned since living in New York. Now every girl wants to look cute on date night and winter and cold weather is no exception. Just because it is cold outside doesn’t mean that you have to wear a cashmere sweater out. My go to for any date night outfit is all black. This is always my go to for two main reason… 1 its easy to match with everything and 2 black is super slimming. Black is also one of the few colors that especially during winter if you are wearing all black no one will judge you or say you look gothic because of your attire. It is completely normal during winter in New York City to be seen wearing all black at all times. I know that I do the majority of the time.

The easiest way to create a great date night look and still be warm is by layering. I love this sheer top from Zara I got last year that I wear over a black body suit because even though it is sheer it surprisingly keeps me warm when I go out. Yes, I of course wear a jacket as well with this outfit, but I wanted you all to be able to see the beauty of this top.

Another thing that I have learned from living in New York City during winter is that restaurants and bars will have the heat on so despite the fact it may be freezing outside that doesn’t mean it will be cold inside as well especially at bars. This is something I learned the hard way my first year living here and I walked out of a bar without my jacket on and stood outside because I was so hot inside and needed to cool off in the frigid cold. Hope you found today’s post helpful! Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post to hear how I did with my week without sugar and dairy! Have a good day everyone <3

Bag + Wallet = Perfection!

November 9, 2017

Happy Thursday! I can’t believe that we are already in November it still hasn’t hit me yet. One the hardest things for girls to do when preparing for a night out is to find a bag that can fit everything you need in it. This Louis Vuitton bag the Pouchette Felicie is my new go to bag right now. It comes with two additional items on top of this great bag! There is a small pouch inside with a zipper that I put things in there like hair ties or other things that I don’t want loose in my bag. Then there is another flat wallet that you can put all your credit cards in and also your cash. Since I have the Iphone plus I always have to pick which items to take out of my purse in order to fit my phone. This bag fits everything in it and my phone with room to spare. It comes in a variation of color options, but I choose the classic LV pattern with a pop of a dark pink inside. This bag is also great because you can unclip the chain and use it as a clutch if you want. This is one of those investment pieces that I think is worth every penny. Louis Vuitton is a classic brand that never goes out of style. Click here to head on over to their website to see all the variations of colors they have for this bag. Click Here For the Handbag

On another note I am personally am so excited to go to the Louis Vuitton exhibit in the financial district when I return to New York City after thanksgiving. It tells the whole history of the brand and I have seen videos posted from the museum and it looks AMAZING!  For all of those in NYC bundle up because this weekend looks like it going to be a cold one.

Steals & Deals: Stripped off the Shoulder

August 4, 2017

Happy Friday! This weekend it is a full household in my apartment. I am watching one of my best friends puppies Stanley a cockapoo that is under 6 months old. Stella is getting adjusted to not having all of my attention, but so far so good! Once a month I get emails with additional mark downs from different retailers. The one retailer that I have found the best markdowns recently is Saks Off Fifth. One of the biggest trends of summer that I have seen so many people wear are button down shirts, but not the traditional way we are used to seeing. I found this pink button down off the shoulder top with a front tie by Romeo & Juliet for only $34.99! It is so comfortable and easy to wear despite the fact that I need to wear a strapless bra with it. I love how the sleeves are not the traditional cuffs that you see on button down shirts. I also ordered this top in black and white as well. I personally ordered a size small and I’m glad I did. Otherwise It would be too tight on me that I wouldn’t be able to lift my arms if I took it any smaller.  One thing I will say about Saks Off Fifth is they have a policy for shipping. If your item doesn’t ship within a certain time frame they will cancel your order. Even if the item is still available online they will cancel it. This happened to me with my order of these two tops, but upon calling their customer service they promptly re ordered me the items and found them the same day to ship them to me overnight for FREE!  Saks Off Fifth has recently opened up an actual store in New York City and it is AMAZING!!! If you aren’t that big into online shopping head on over to their store in Midtown right now! They have an amazing selection of low to high end designer items at a fraction of the cost. Hope everyone has had a great week and has a great weekend! I know that I will in puppy town <3

Memorial Day Outfit Prep #2

May 25, 2017

Happy Thursday! If you are lucky enough some of you got off early today and are already on your holiday vacation. For those of you lucky few that are able to get away this Memorial Day Weekend I know that last week I discussed how I was getting my outfits ready for Memorial Day and I am here to bring you another perfect outfit for the weekend. I always try and pack two bags for the weekend. One small going out bag and one everyday bag that can fit everything that I need. A cute drawstring bag is the way to go this holiday weekend. I have always found that drawstring bags are great for traveling because you can fit way more inside of them than you think. I once fit inside this Louis Vuitton bag my wallet, a small make up case, cell phone, keys, headphones, mini IPad, digital camera, sunglass case, glasses case, hairbrush and an external battery charger with also a regular charger cord too. Now that is a lot of stuff to fit into one bag. There is not a long weekend that I don’t pack with me a great pant romper. Since I am only 5’2 1/2 (yes that 1/2 is very important to us short girls) I have noticed that pant rompers have always made me look taller than I actually am. Pair it with a great pair of tan wedges and you can wear those shoes all weekend long. These Christian Louboutin wedges are my go to during the summer especially when I am going away. They go with pretty much everything!  My rule of thumb when packing for and preparing for a holiday weekend is to try and be like Kate Middleton. She is the queen of recycling outfits especially on her royal trips so why can’t we do the same?  Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend if you are going out of town. Be safe and wear lots of sunscreen. The last thing you want is to come back to work Tuesday with the worst sunburn <3

Bachelorette Monday!

May 22, 2017

Happy Monday! Today is an exciting day because #BachelorNation is back!! Tonight begins the season of the Bachelorette and I am so excited. Crazy enough I know one of the men competing this season for Rachel’s heart and I can’t wait to see how far he goes. I haven’t spoken to him in a few years or I would ask him for some spoilers. In honor of tonight’s season premiere I want to show you one of my favorite cocktail dresses that I have worn to a ton of weddings. Now over the years the girls on this show have had some hit and misses when it comes to their rose ceremony outfits. I love when they all wear long gowns, but there is something to say about a beautiful short dress. I love that this dress is simple with black and white lace, but here’s hoping that Rachel comes out in a stunning red outfit like this one from Black Halo.

All I know is I can’t wait to see what Rachel is wearing on the first rose ceremony tonight, but I am also interested to see what the guys are wearing too. Tune in tonight on ABC and see for yourselves!

Memorial Day Outfit Prep

May 18, 2017

Happy Thursday! Today I got my hair colored and went from red back to having my blonde ombre just in time for summer. With Memorial Day being next weekend I am getting all of my outfits ready for the big weekend. There are some essential items that you will need for the holiday weekend whether you are going away or staying in town. Here are some of the things you should make sure you have: a great pair of white jeans, a cold shoulder top with a great strapless bra, a small clutch and a great pair of sandals. If you don’t have any of these items I would go out and get them ASAP! I say this out of love because I know what it feels like not to have these clutch items. I went shopping in a panic out in New York City and yes New York one of the fashion capitals of the world has everything however when it comes to major holidays. You will notice that when summer comes along right before the actual weekend these items like white jeans sell out in mostly every single size. These are staple items that you will not only wear Memorial Day weekend, but all summer long. I know we are all waiting for these huge Memorial Day sale however, a lot of stores do offer pre sale for certain items if you ask. I have personally done this numerous times at Bloomingdales during their Friends & Family if I didn’t need the item right away. If you don’t know where to begin when it comes to shopping for next weekend I suggest you all head on over to Gap, H&M or Forever 21. These are great store options that have so many options right now and at great prices. For all of those in New York City I hope that all of you are safe after todays’ horrible accident in Times Square. Always be aware of your surroundings and make sure to pay attention always. Have a great rest of your day and be safe <3

Throwback Thursday: Night Out Outfit

April 6, 2017

Happy Thursday! In the spirit of it being throwback Thursday I thought I’d post some of my favorite shots from my first photo shoot with my sweet puppy Stella. Again if you don’t follow her already please follow her on instagram @HowStellaGotHerWoofBack. I still look at these pictures and can’t believe how small she once was. She really has grown up <3.  In New York City right now it is very gross and rainy out, but it still not warm enough yet outside to fully switch my closet over to summer. Yes you heard me right I do switch my closet over from season to season. Most people that live in New York store all of their clothes from season to season. Otherwise it would take up too much valuable closet space. However, there are some pieces that I always keep out just incase there is a random cold night. To me the perfect night out outfit consists of a great pair of booties, jeans and a good simple top. Well right now it also consists of a black leather jacket, but that’s a whole other subject. The top that I am wearing is a lightweight long sleeve shirt that can be worn even when it gets a little warmer out so it is an all season shirt. Being from Florida I get cold very easily even when it’s barely cold out in New York City I always seem to throw on a jacket. I am trying to get better at that because at the end of the night I end up carrying my jacket home with me.  If you are still wrestling with what to start putting away these are items that I wouldn’t put away at all. I hope everyone in New York City is staying dry and enjoying these last few days of a little bit of cold weather. Have a great day everyone <3

One Year Of Just Jodi Style

March 14, 2017

Happy Tuesday! Normally today I would focus on fitness Tuesday, but today is a very special day to me. A year ago today I officially launched Just Jodi Style into the world and my what a year it has been. I personally just want to thank my family and friends for all of your love and support through this past year. I don’t know what I would have done without all of you by my side. I hope all of you have enjoyed what I have posted this past year and will continue on this amazing journey with me. Today I am spending the day cuddling up with my sweet puppy Stella in our pajamas trying to stay warm from this lovely snow storm we are having here in New York City. Yes I know the snowstorm is also named Stella just like my puppy. I didn’t know the name of the storm until my brother informed me yesterday afternoon and I didn’t believe him until he sent me a weather report link showing me. Hope everyone has a great day and for the rest of us in New York stay warm and only go outside if it is an absolute emergency. <3

SAG Awards 2017 – My Top 3 Fav Looks From Last Night

January 30, 2017

Happy Monday everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend and are having a relaxing Monday so far. Last night award season continued with the SAG Awards and let me tell you there was some hit and misses with the fashion. Some of the looks that didn’t bother me so much, but according to the fashion police they were not great.

Emma Stone once again killed it on the red carpet. Wearing Alexander McQueen she looked like the movie star that she is. At first look I wasn’t sure how I felt about it being sheer with the lace detailing, but upon closer look at the dress it was perfect. Her acceptance speech was a great reunion of Superbad don’t know if anyone else caught that. I can’t wait to see what she wears to the Oscars because I know she is going to look amazing again.

Kerry Washington in my book can do no wrong. Even last year with her crop to while pregnant honestly I said to my mom on the phone that she can make even pregnancy look fabulous. She stunned in this Roberto Cavalli dress and it had me thinking Olivia Pope with the white hat killing it. I know that everyone said it looked too much like a wedding gown, but some of the best looks on red carpets were initially intended to be wedding gowns. I honestly can’t wait for the rest of this season of Scandal not just to see what happens, but also to see all of her fashion.

I am a huge Game of Thrones fan. I personally binged watched the first 3 seasons on my own when I first moved to New York. I will say this to all of you because I wish someone said it to me. DO NOT WATCH THE RED WEDDING ALONE AT NIGHT TIME! Anyways Sophie Turner who plays Sansa and also is rumored to be dating Joe Jonas stunned in a custom Louis Vuitton dress. It reminded of Jennifer Lawrence years ago in her red number during award season. She looked elegant and really stood out from the crowd.

Do you all agree with my top 3 favorite looks from last night? Comment below and let me know who your favorite looks were. Look forward to reading them <3
