Throwback Thursday: Night Out Outfit

April 6, 2017

Happy Thursday! In the spirit of it being throwback Thursday I thought I’d post some of my favorite shots from my first photo shoot with my sweet puppy Stella. Again if you don’t follow her already please follow her on instagram @HowStellaGotHerWoofBack. I still look at these pictures and can’t believe how small she once was. She really has grown up <3.  In New York City right now it is very gross and rainy out, but it still not warm enough yet outside to fully switch my closet over to summer. Yes you heard me right I do switch my closet over from season to season. Most people that live in New York store all of their clothes from season to season. Otherwise it would take up too much valuable closet space. However, there are some pieces that I always keep out just incase there is a random cold night. To me the perfect night out outfit consists of a great pair of booties, jeans and a good simple top. Well right now it also consists of a black leather jacket, but that’s a whole other subject. The top that I am wearing is a lightweight long sleeve shirt that can be worn even when it gets a little warmer out so it is an all season shirt. Being from Florida I get cold very easily even when it’s barely cold out in New York City I always seem to throw on a jacket. I am trying to get better at that because at the end of the night I end up carrying my jacket home with me.  If you are still wrestling with what to start putting away these are items that I wouldn’t put away at all. I hope everyone in New York City is staying dry and enjoying these last few days of a little bit of cold weather. Have a great day everyone <3

Steals & Deals – Faux Suede Bodysuit

December 23, 2016

Happy Friday!!! Today is the last Friday before Christmas and Channukah and I hope everyone has found their perfect gifts for the special people in their lives. If you are still looking for a great outfit to wear for the upcoming holiday parties and for New Years Eve look no further than this Steals & Deals. As you all already can guess from previous posts I love bodysuits. They are so easy to wear and just make an outfit simple and easy. I found this amazing faux suede bodysuit from Charlotte Russe and it is only $15!!! They used to have it in this light purple grey color like the one I am wearing, but now they only have it in a burgundy color. I am very tempted to buy it in this color as well because it just fits so well! The burgundy is also a great color for holiday time because it isn’t a true red, but still festive. This bodysuit is great to pair with a pair of mid rise or high waisted jeans with or without a belt or you can even pair it with a skirt. I hate having to tuck in a shirt when I wear pants, shorts or a skirt because it always seems to bunch up around my waist and just not lay correctly. This bodysuit fits like a glove! If you are concerned about how low cut it is and not revealing too much my suggestion is to use fashion tape. When I wore this out the first time I used fashion tape. Since the straps aren’t adjustable and I did not have time to go and get it altered I used fashion tape by the chest area and it worked perfectly! The top did not move out of place the entire evening that I wore it. Most pharmacy in the beauty section carry fashion tape, but if you can’t find it they also have it on Amazon Prime. Pair it with a simple necklace like the one I have on and you are all set. Hope everyone who is traveling this holiday weekend travels safe and gets everything that they want and more. <3

Happy Halloween Everyone! Every year I go through the motions of should I buy a costume or should I just use clothes that I already have to make a costume? This year I chose to use items in my wardrobe that I already had to create my halloween costume as Sandy from Grease.  I already owned this amazing off the shoulder body suit from Express which comes in so many colors and is so comfortable and easy to wear. My half leather leggings are from Paige Denim that I got a few years ago with my mom at Bloomingdales. During the winter this is a great piece for when I want to have something that is a little bit fancier than just plain jeans, but also as comfortable as a pair of leggings. If you don’t have open toe shoes like the ones I am wearing just a plain pair of black pumps or boots or heels will do the trick! When I went away to Kansas this weekend I didn’t bring these leggings so instead I wore a pair of black mid rise jeans and paired it with my Gucci belt and a pair of leather booties with a leather jacket thrown over it. It is super easy to just use things you already have in your closet to dress up. For example one of the popular halloween costumes that I saw this weekend on facebook was to be a member of Fifth Harmony in their work from home music video. All you need is a pair of denim shorts or even a pair of overalls and a plaid shirt with a brown belt. Honestly, who cares what shoes you are wearing with some of these outfits they normally get cut off in the picture anyways 🙂 Hope everyone has a great Halloween and even though I am too old to go out and get candy I will get a bag from CVS for myself in honor of the holiday <3

The Black Leather Jacket

March 28, 2016

160228-ASHarris-Jodi_Style-5085-LOOK3Today I want to discuss the elusive black leather biker jacket. We all know that is the one staple piece that almost every single girl in NYC has in her closet. What we don’t realize is what makes a good leather jacket. When picking a leather jacket the first thing you should look for is versatility. This leather jacket from DKNY is great because it has side zipper panels in order to make the jacket a little bit bigger if you are layering more sweaters underneath.  It also has a more biker feel with the details on the sleeves. I personally have two black leather jackets. This one and another one that is a little bit longer for when it’s a little colder, but not cold enough for a wool coat. A leather jacket is another item I call an investment piece. My first leather jacket, I purchased in the fall of 2011 and still have it to this day. It is in great condition and actually  leather jackets only get better with age and wear, so mine is perfect! I always thought that if a leather jacket got any water on it then it is ruined. That is 100% false. Don’t get me wrong, you do not want to be caught in a rainstorm wearing your leather jacket, but if you get a little bit of water on it then it just makes it look more aged and sometimes, in my opinion, look even better. In the past, H&M has had some great faux leather jackets that almost look real but for under $80. If you aren’t sure you are ready to commit to purchasing a leather jacket I would suggest looking there first and then deciding if you are ready to take the plunge. When I was in college that is exactly what I did so  when I purchased my first leather jacket I knew exactly what style I wanted and knew I would wear it all the time.
