Special Steals & Deals in honor of MLK Day!

January 16, 2017

Happy Monday! Hope everyone is having a great day and for most of you who have the day off I hope you are enjoying a long relaxing weekend. There are so many great sales going on today that I wanted to share with all of you. ASOS is currently having a save and spend event on their site where you can save up to $75 on your purchases. If you spend $150 use code DROP30 to receive $30 off. If you spend $200 then use code DROP50 to receive $50 off then if you spend $250 or more use the code DROP75 to receive $75 off your purchase. If you loved these floral booties I have pictured today go on over there and snag yourself a similar pair. At Neiman Marcus there is an additional 20% off the sale merchandise! Now some of the merchandise will say final sale, but when you can save up to 75% on something it is totally worth it! If you are shopping online for Forever21 take an extra 30% off sale items using the code EXTRA30 when you are checking out. Now the big one is Barneys Warehouse which is having an extra 75% off their sales items!!! Now if that isn’t a sale I don’t know what is! There are plenty of sales going on today in store and online, but personally I am going to stick to online because it is easier and more likely to have your size. If you are in the store and they don’t have your size ask the sales associate to check if it’s online or in another store. It’s worth asking because a lot of times they will have it for you and will ship it to you for free. Who doesn’t love a good free shipping? I hope everyone has a great Monday <3

Steals & Deals – Lip Treatment

January 13, 2017

Happy Friday the 13th everybody! I will admit and say that I didn’t realize today was Friday the 13th until halfway through the day.  So I know that all of you have now since seen all the fashion and looks from the Golden Globes, but one of the things that was making all the rounds was an instagram post. Emma Stone posted on instagram before the show a picture of her with a crazy lip mask on. This wasn’t the first time I had seen this lip mask on a celebrity before. I had been searching high and low for this exact mask, but never could find it. The ones that I found were over $50 and I didn’t want to spend that kind of money on a mask that you used once then threw away. Thanks to an article published by E! I have found the exact lip mask that Emma Stone and other celebrities have been using! It is a collagen infused lip mask by KNC beauty and it is only $24.99. Before I ordered it I first consulted with my facialist. I have very sensitive skin and I am prone to chapped lips. I use Kiehl’s products on my lips and it helps, but I still have moments where my lips are so chapped it’s awful. She said that to just make sure that there were no ingredients I was allergic to in the mask otherwise if I was then my lips would stay like that. Such a comedian my facialist. Thankfully I am not allergic to anything that is in the mask.   I just ordered mine and I can’t wait for it to arrive. There are similar products that are on Amazon, but I read the reviews and I didn’t fully trust them. I have attached the link for the lip mask in the post. I hope everyone has a great Friday the 13th!!!!!

Hump Day Treat! One tray meals

January 11, 2017

Happy Wednesday everyone! Hope everyone is having a great hump day and enjoying their week so far. Today I want to talk about cooking in general. Now the other night when I made my friend cauliflower pizza for dinner if you ask my friend Rachael, who so graciously let me use her kitchen that night, I used every dish / pot / pan possible that she had. I am one of those people that I hate eating a meal after cooking without cleaning up after myself beforehand. So I have discovered ways to make it easier for myself and for my sanity while cooking and cleaning. Yesterday for lunch I wanted some roasted broccoli, but I also wanted some salmon. So instead of cooking the salmon on the stove I put it in aluminum foil almost like a pouch. I then place it on a cookie sheet that was lined with aluminum foil and sprayed it and laid my veggies on the side of it. It also makes it an easy clean up if you are using sauces with your meat / fish that you are cooking. For example I used a sesame ginger glaze for my salmon and cooking it this way i can just pick up the “salmon pouch” that i made using aluminum foil and place it direct onto my plate. At the end of the day I used max 3 things for this meal including a cutting board, a cookie sheet with aluminum foil and then the plate I used to eat my meal. There are so many things you can cook together on a cookie sheet in the oven that you may realize now. Hope you all have a great day and if you are interested in seeing things for hump day treats comment below and let me know!

Fitness Tuesday: Vitamins

January 10, 2017

Happy Fitness Tuesday! Now anyone that knows me knows that my Mom is a licensed nurse, but doesn’t practice anymore. My brother and I have been known to call her the pez dispenser of vitamin C. She always has some on her and she takes it every single day multiple times a day. Something that people don’t realize is certain vitamins you can take as much as you want of with no true effect on you. For example Vitamin C you can take ideally as much as you want and whatever your body doesn’t utilize you will just go to the bathroom. I personally take 2 to 3,000 MG of vitamin C everyday. On top of this I also take a Vitamin D3 pill. I started taking this pill after I moved to New York. Growing up in Florida and then going to school in Arizona where I was always tan 365 days out of the year I didn’t need it. Depending on the time of the year determines how much I take of my Vitamin D pill, but we are all a little deficient in Vitamin D so it doesn’t hurt to take one small pill of it daily. On top of all of that I take a Magnesium pill everyday. This is highly suggested for all of you who work out frequently. This helps with your muscles and just in general. After I took this one cross training class for the first time I was so sore for about a week it hurt to even sit down on a chair. My Mom and brother then said to go and get some Magnesium pills and it will help with my muscles. Sure enough it helped overnight. Now everyone is different and some people don’t like taking vitamins, but as I have gotten older I have learned that whether I liked it or not I had to take them. I know that it is important to take care of your body and the sooner your start the better. I purchase a lot of my vitamins from Amazon and the brands that I like are Nature Made and Nature’s Bounty. You can also get a lot of these vitamins in bulk at Costco! Hope everyone has a great day <3

Award Season – Golden Globes Favorites

January 9, 2017

Happy Monday Everyone!!! Hope everyone had a great weekend and for those of you living in New York City I hope you all survived the snow storm! There is still so much snow on the ground and my puppy Stella is not happy about it at all. Last night was the start of award season for me that is because even if there were award shows before last night this is the first one that everyone I know watches in the United States. Now I was always told by others that if you are nominated for an award for the show you are attending that designers are more likely to flock to you. Not saying that if you aren’t nominated designers won’t come to you, but if you are then you really have your pick of gowns. I also always believed that if you are nominated for an award for that specific show that means you need to be dressed to perfection. There should be no hair out of place and your outfit should fit you like a glove. Every award show my mom and I no matter where we are during commercial breaks we discuss the outfits that we see and this year like most we agreed on almost every look we loved. Here are my top 4 favorite looks from last night.

Kristen Bell in Jenny Packham. I love that the dress is all over sequins and you can tell that she made sure that this dress wasn’t going anywhere. Fashion tape is a girl’s best friend! I know since I wore a very deep V sequin dress to my best friends wedding that if you are wearing a low cut dress that all you need are a pair of statement earrings. No need to add a necklace on top of it.

Now Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds were #couplegoals and even though he was the one nominated for his role as Deadpool she stunned in Atelier Versace. I mean the deep V the sequin pockets the green diamond bracelets I could go on and on about her look. I love how she kept the hair and makeup simple and let the dress do the talking.

Again Versace was all over the red carpet and I must say bravo! Reese Witherspoon stunned in this yellow Versace gown and I can’t stop looking at her. Normally I wouldn’t be a fan of a yellow dress, but each year some celebrity proves me wrong and shows me that yellow in a dress is amazing! With the simple hairstyle and just a statement necklace and the slit in the front she truly looked beautiful.

The true winner of the night was the movie La La Land and Emma Stone truly looked like a star. This Valentino dress is absolutely stunning on her! I love how it is light pink in color and not an off white or a true white. I personally didn’t notice until she was doing red carpet interviews that her dress actually had stars in it. Honestly the girl can do no wrong in my book. Did anyone else notice Andrew Garfield standing up clapping the entire time after they announced she won? #friendlyexs
Who were some of your favorites from the golden globes last night? Comment on today’s post and let me know what you think! Hope everyone has a great Monday and for those of you in New York City stay warm! <3

Steals & Deals – Steve Madden

January 6, 2017

Happy Friday!! Yesterday I spent the day in New Jersey with my best friend Tess and let me tell you that Milburn Deli lives up to all the hype that everyone was telling me. I am still full from my lunch yesterday. For the past few years I have eyed the Stella McCartney faux leather oxford platforms in every store I have been to. They are so cute and classy because they look like a classic oxford shoe, but they have the height like those shoes the Spice Girls used to wear back in the day. We all know we wanted a pair of those for our own. I have looked on every discount site for these shoes in any color way and the lowest that I have seen them even during the holiday time was $600 and I couldn’t bring myself to buy them because I know that I won’t wear them every single day. Luckily I found another option! This year on Thanksgiving I did a little retail therapy on Jildor.com and I thought because I didn’t shop cyber Monday that I wasn’t going to get any rewards, but I was wrong. Just from shopping during Thanksgiving in general on their site I received $50 in credits! I had to use them by this week and I scoured the site for a pair of shoes and stumbled upon these amazing Steve Madden pair. They almost look identical to the Stella McCartney’s the only difference is the toe area is rounded and the heel part is a cork heel vs a wooden heel in the Stella’s. These amazing shoes are only $99 and with my $50 coupon I only spent $49 before taxes. They are so comfortable and I am so glad I found a pair that gives me the same look at the Stella McCartney pair that I have been eyeing, but at a fraction of the cost. Check out their website now for amazing other shoes that are heavily discounted right now! They are honestly one of my favorite sites to shop on for great shoe deals and their customer service is amazing! I hope everyone enjoyed today’s Steals & Deals. For all of you in New York City stay warm with all this snow. <3

Hump Day Treat! Recovery Protein Bowl

January 4, 2017

Happy Wednesday everyone! With it being the first week of 2017 I thought that I would give you all a healthy recipe for those of you that their new year’s resolution was to eat healthier. My friend Brooke who I worked with when I interned at Glamour Magazine is honestly one of my fitness inspirations. She is currently training and going to be running the marathon in London after running the marathon in NYC this year. Yesterday she posted this amazing protein bowl and I had to ask her how to make it. These are a great alternative to those who don’t necessary like having a smoothie or are still looking for a healthy alternative this new year.

Ingredients:

Almond Milk – plain almond milk, but if you want to try vanilla almond milk I did and it tasted great!

Ice

One Large Frozen Banana (peel it before freezing it! I learned that mistake the hard way)

Plant Protein – My friend got hers from Garden of Life

Almond Butter

I did this myself today in a blender and I started with a ¼ of a cup of almond milk and added more as I saw fit and I did the same with the almond butter and plant protein. I personally love protein shakes, but only when they taste more fruity than protein. If you have a nutribullet you can also  make this in there as well. It may be easier if you want to use the container to bring it to work with you on the go. Brooke topped hers off with flaxseed, walnuts and organic shredded coconut. YUM! I personally put on top of mine some of the organic coconut and strawberries.  Hope everyone is having a great day and for those of you in New York City I hope you are all preparing for the snow that we are suppose to get on Friday! <3

Fitness Tuesday – To Stretch Or Not To Stretch?

January 3, 2017

Happy New Year everyone and happy first fitness Tuesday of 2017!! I am finally recovering from this weekend and getting back into the swing of things. I started January 1st with a 90 minute SoulCycle class and when you hear people say it is hard that is an understatement even for me who does spinning at least 4 times a week. When I used to do spinning I would always leave before the stretch part because I would just want to get out of the class and shower. Even when I was younger I would always just do the bare minimum of stretching not until I played JV basketball in High School did I start to take it more seriously. I didn’t want to injure myself because I wasn’t stretching properly, but with spinning didn’t think that I needed to stretch more than I normally did. One thing that I have learned since starting to work out more is that stretching is more important than you think. Even if you don’t really stretch fully before any type of workout after you should always stretch every muscle you have. There are times I would think oh I don’t need to stretch out my arms because I barely did any arm work, but that doesn’t mean you didn’t use your arms in a way you didn’t realize. As I have previously stated a foam roller is great for stretching, but you can use anything in your house. I personally use a towel to stretch out my legs by using wrapping it around my feet and holding either end of the towel and then pointing and flexing my toes in the process. It may sound silly, but think about all the stretches you did in your middle school PE classes and do those today. They are more helpful than you think and they will prevent you from getting stiff muscles and possibly hurting yourself in the long run. Hope everyone had a great weekend and for those of you in New York City are staying dry on the cold rainy day. <3
