Mother’s Day Week – Steals & Deals

May 12, 2017

Happy Friday! The work week is finally over and Mother’s day is just two days away. One of my favorite new purchases this summer was from Donni Charm. Their Donni Gigi’s have become a staple in my wardrobe both during summer and the fall. Stella loves rocking their doggy bandanas too! Right now on their website in their Mom shop if your purchase one of Donni Gigi you get one for you FREE! Now this deal is only through Mother’s Day and you better head on over there FAST!!! They even have a set where one of the Gigi’s is monogrammed saying “Like Mother” and the other says “Like Daughter”. Now if that’s not the cutest gift to where with your Mom I don’t know what is.If you don’t think your Mom would wear these amazing neck scarves you would be wrong. My Mom every time she wears one of her many Donni Charm items out and about in Miami she gets tons of compliments from everyone around her. However, it took a while for her to get the hang of all the many ways there are to wear a single scarf. Thankfully on the Donni Charm website they now have very helpful videos to help you style all of their many scarves including all the new spring / summer styles that I had hard time saying no to every single item in the collection. Hope you all had a great rest of your week and are spoiling your Mom’s this Sunday with all the love and gifts that she deserves. Sadly I read the weather report and its rain and showers all weekend long in New York City. Even though I don’t have a child myself I do have my sweet puppy Stella and I plan on spending Mother’s Day with her. Have a great weekend everyone and a great Mother’s Day!

Mother’s Day Week – Monday

May 8, 2017

Happy Monday! I know I haven’t posted in a while I have been busy traveling and working on great new content for Just Jodi Style. This week I wanted to focus on Mother’s Day and different ideas you can do for the female figure in your life. Today I wanted to discuss monogramming. Now in recent years it has become more of a trend to get something customized whether it be an item of clothing or even your cell phone. Anything can be customized, but monogramming is something that is as my mom would like to say “old school”. I say this because it is more expensive and takes more time than just ironing on someone’s initials to a top. However, monogramming last a lot longer than a simple ironed on insignia that you can find on Etsy. This past Thanksgiving I purchased these unreal vintage pajamas from J. Crew with their Cyber Monday deals. I found out about these pajamas when my old boss had purchased them as a bridal shower gift for one of her friends. She told me how you can get them monogramed as well on their site. If your Mom is the type of person not to wear matching sets I still believe this is the gift for you to get. It comes in three colors (White, Navy and Hydrangea) and it also comes in both short and long sleeve options. Personally I chose the long sleeve option for those cold winter nights. I will say to be careful when selecting your monogramming and what order you place your initials in. I personally called J. Crew to verify I was putting it in the correct order prior to purchasing them. Since Mother’s day is this Sunday and it takes a few weeks for these to come in if you are still interested in purchasing them for your Mom you can always print off a picture of the pajamas inside your card with a cute little saying that works for your Mom.  Hope everyone has a great day! <3

Throwback Thursday: Night Out Outfit

April 6, 2017

Happy Thursday! In the spirit of it being throwback Thursday I thought I’d post some of my favorite shots from my first photo shoot with my sweet puppy Stella. Again if you don’t follow her already please follow her on instagram @HowStellaGotHerWoofBack. I still look at these pictures and can’t believe how small she once was. She really has grown up <3.  In New York City right now it is very gross and rainy out, but it still not warm enough yet outside to fully switch my closet over to summer. Yes you heard me right I do switch my closet over from season to season. Most people that live in New York store all of their clothes from season to season. Otherwise it would take up too much valuable closet space. However, there are some pieces that I always keep out just incase there is a random cold night. To me the perfect night out outfit consists of a great pair of booties, jeans and a good simple top. Well right now it also consists of a black leather jacket, but that’s a whole other subject. The top that I am wearing is a lightweight long sleeve shirt that can be worn even when it gets a little warmer out so it is an all season shirt. Being from Florida I get cold very easily even when it’s barely cold out in New York City I always seem to throw on a jacket. I am trying to get better at that because at the end of the night I end up carrying my jacket home with me.  If you are still wrestling with what to start putting away these are items that I wouldn’t put away at all. I hope everyone in New York City is staying dry and enjoying these last few days of a little bit of cold weather. Have a great day everyone <3

Steals & Deals – Ear Cuffs

March 31, 2017

Happy Friday! Back in 2013 the biggest trend to come out of the earring game was the ear cuff. Now as I have told you all before my Mom is the queen of finding the hottest trends at a fraction of the cost. She purchased me these beautiful diamond ear cuffs from Graziela Gems and they are even more beautiful in person. They are so comfortable and so easy to wear with pretty much everything that I own. Back then they were on sale due to the impending holiday season, but they now have a special collection on QVC. They are all under $100 and compared to their full retail collection this is a HUGE STEAL! If you are still looking for a great pair of ear cuffs these are the ones you need to snag up immediately. I love the fact that instead of a simple closure with just an earring backing they are a clip closure for pierced ears. This means no more missing earring backs and no losing your earrings while you are out on the town with your friends. I know that I have lost my fair share of backs of earrings in my day. I think these are a great gift for a birthday or even an upcoming graduation whatever the occasion at these prices how can you say no? Check out their collection on QVC and if you are interested in looking at more of their high end jewelry step no further than their retail website. Happy Shopping everyone <3

One Year Of Just Jodi Style

March 14, 2017

Happy Tuesday! Normally today I would focus on fitness Tuesday, but today is a very special day to me. A year ago today I officially launched Just Jodi Style into the world and my what a year it has been. I personally just want to thank my family and friends for all of your love and support through this past year. I don’t know what I would have done without all of you by my side. I hope all of you have enjoyed what I have posted this past year and will continue on this amazing journey with me. Today I am spending the day cuddling up with my sweet puppy Stella in our pajamas trying to stay warm from this lovely snow storm we are having here in New York City. Yes I know the snowstorm is also named Stella just like my puppy. I didn’t know the name of the storm until my brother informed me yesterday afternoon and I didn’t believe him until he sent me a weather report link showing me. Hope everyone has a great day and for the rest of us in New York stay warm and only go outside if it is an absolute emergency. <3

Comfy Casual Night In

February 23, 2017

In college Thursday nights were always a big going out night, but since I have gotten older I enjoy at least one night in on the weekends. Especially nights in cuddling with my sweet puppy Stella. However, just because you are staying in doesn’t mean you don’t have to be wearing sweats around the house. There is always a way to look cute even when you are just staying home. There are so many different ways you can take comfy casual and there is no right or wrong way. Most people would say if you are just spending the night in on your couch watching movies that jeans are not ideal for this, but I disagree. There are so many different pairs of jeans that almost feel like leggings and aren’t rigid like most jeans. These type of jeans are perfect for a night in because they aren’t as constricting as a normal pair of jeans. On top of a pair of jeans pair it with a comfy shirt not super tight, but not too loose that you look like you are just wearing an oversized sleep t-shirt. I know you all know what I am talking about those t-shirts from college that were great to wear to sporting games, but now are faded and way too big. If you have one of those that isn’t too big you can cut it up like the shirt I am wearing above. It will spice up your t-shirt and if you cut it wrong you can just continue to wear it as a sleep shirt. Pair your comfy look with a great pair of slides if you are going over to a friends house or just want to break in a new pair of shoes and you are good to go! Stella seems to be very comfy for our night in with her custom Donni Charm plaid bandana. Maybe if I am lucky she will let me take it off before she goes to bed. 🙂 <3

Valentine’s Day Date Night Look

February 14, 2017

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! I know normally it is Fitness Tuesday here on Just Jodi Style, but today I will be making an exception. With tonight being Valentine’s Day I know some of you will probably wait until the weekend to celebrate with work and everything, but for those of you who are going out tonight I wanted to share with you my perfect Valentine’s date night look. I know that everyone feels like they need to wear something red or pink or colorful because it’s a holiday. I am here to tell you that you don’t need to do that. I always wear something that I feel the most comfortable in and what makes me feel sexy. This look is a simple grey top i purchased from Vince back in college and is flowy which is great especially if you are going somewhere that is a pre fix menu with multiple courses so your stomach can breathe :-). I spiced up the outfit with a sparkly shoe and earring just to give it a little something. For those of us living in the cold weather just throw on a great coat that has a little faux or real fur to keep you warm through the night. This jacket from Annabelle New  York is quickly becoming one of my favorites this season. You don’t need much when you are going out with someone or people that you love. The most important thing is to make sure that you feel good about yourself and what you are wearing. I hope everyone has a great holiday today and for those of you who don’t have a special someone it is okay! I personally treated myself and saw 50 Shades Darker at Ipic and had a few glasses of wine and there is nothing wrong with that <3.

Fitness Tuesday in honor of Stella’s Birthday!!

December 6, 2016

Happy Fitness Tuesday! Today is a very special day for me because it my sweet puppy Stella’s first birthday!! It is crazy to me to think that a year ago on my birthday I put down a deposit for her and now she is already a year old. So today in honor of her birthday I want to talk about fitness with your animal. Now I love to give Stella treats and of course she loves them too, but we also want our pets to be healthy and have tons of energy. I have noticed that for her even after a two hour walk she still is full of energy, but then eventually sleeps. I personally do not go running with Stella everyday, but I have been taking her for casual jogs in Central Park at least once a week since. Thankfully (knock on wood) it hasn’t snowed yet so I am taking full advantage of it. If you are fortunate enough to have a pool anywhere near you and for us New Yorkers an indoor pool take your dog for an occasional swim. All of my family pets have all loved to swim not just because we were in Miami, but because it is great exercise for them. Even though I have seen videos of it and I find it entertaining I have heard that putting a dog on a treadmill isn’t the best idea especially if you turn up the speed on it. Just like Taylor Swift did in the Apple commercial a dog can seriously hurt themselves and fall down. Hope you all have a great Tuesday and again Happy Birthday to my sweet puppy Stella! If you don’t follow her already please follow her on instagram: @ HowStellaGotHerWoofBack

Happy Election Day! Fitness Tuesday: Running

November 8, 2016

unnamed-5

Happy Election Day! It’s Fitness Tuesday and to honor the New York City Marathon that just took place this past Sunday, today’s fitness inspiration is running. I know that most people don’t enjoy running. My brother Ira says that he gets bored while running even with listening to music or having a tv on if he is on the treadmill. I personally used to feel that way too, but now I enjoy it from time to time. In the spring of 2013, I ran the Brooklyn Half Marathon which is something that honestly shocked my entire family. When it comes to running, the first thing that you need to do is get a great pair of shoes. Yes, I was one of those people that went into a running store and ran on a treadmill in front of a bunch of people to find the right shoe. Also don’t expect to find exactly the color you want in a running shoe. Mine are pink and teal and personally I would have preferred something not as out there, but at the end of the day they are so comfortable and that is really what matters when running. If you have the opportunity to run outside do it! I say this not because it is more entertaining and possibly scenic running outside, but for me I have noticed it is not as hard on my knees. When starting to run take it slow.and don’t worry about trying to have a fast pace. Also when running with your music put your phone airplane mode if you aren’t expecting any calls in order to save battery. I did that when I ran the Brooklyn Half Marathon and I am so thankful I did. Make sure you also stretch before and after running and it’s always a good idea to take an epsom salt bath after a nice long run. Hope to see everyone out there running the streets before it eventually starts to snow.Happy running everyone and I go out and vote! <3
