Steals & Deals – Gucci Loafers

Happy Friday! I know that in the past I have posted a similar Steals & Deals post regarding the Gucci loafers with fur, but this is different. I have personally fallen in love with the Gucci Princetown Loafers since purchasing my first pair in black leather. They are the most comfortable slides I have ever own in my entire life. You can quote me on that one. However, not everyone wants to spend the money on the Gucci loafers if they don’t think they are going to wear them that often. Mother’s Day Week – Steals & Deals

Happy Friday! The work week is finally over and Mother’s day is just two days away. One of my favorite new purchases this summer was from Donni Charm. Their Donni Gigi’s have become a staple in my wardrobe both during summer and the fall. Stella loves rocking their doggy bandanas too! Comfy Casual Night In

In college Thursday nights were always a big going out night, but since I have gotten older I enjoy at least one night in on the weekends. Especially nights in cuddling with my sweet puppy Stella. However, just because you are staying in doesn’t mean you don’t have to be wearing sweats around the house. There is always a way to look cute even when you are just staying home. There are so many different ways you can take comfy casual and there is no right or wrong way. Most people would say if you are just spending the night in on your couch watching movies that jeans are not ideal for this, but I disagree. There are so many different pairs of jeans that almost feel like leggings and aren’t rigid like most jeans. These type of jeans are perfect for a night in because they aren’t as constricting as a normal pair of jeans. On top of a pair of jeans pair it with a comfy shirt not super tight, but not too loose that you look like you are just wearing an oversized sleep t-shirt. I know you all know what I am talking about those t-shirts from college that were great to wear to sporting games, but now are faded and way too big. If you have one of those that isn’t too big you can cut it up like the shirt I am wearing above. It will spice up your t-shirt and if you cut it wrong you can just continue to wear it as a sleep shirt. Pair your comfy look with a great pair of slides if you are going over to a friends house or just want to break in a new pair of shoes and you are good to go! Stella seems to be very comfy for our night in with her custom Donni Charm plaid bandana. Maybe if I am lucky she will let me take it off before she goes to bed. 🙂 <3

Transform Your Bedroom With The Perfect Bedding

Happy Thursday! Sorry that there was no hump day treat recipe yesterday. I have been working on some great new content for Just Jodi Style. I am also leaving this weekend to watch my best friend marry the love of her life in Arizona so been trying to get everything ready for that. Recently I wanted to redo my bedroom here in New York and give it a whole new vibe. There are many things that you can do to change your bedroom on a budget, but the first thing you can do is to change your bedding. The bedding I was using was the one that I had senior year of college and don’t get me wrong it’s amazing bedding and I still have it for when guests stay over, but I wanted something different. I searched for months and months and found this amazing Vera Wang bedding that was sold in Bloomingdales, Bed Bath & Beyond and even Macys. It was interesting to me that different stores had different throw pillow options with the bedding. Some had more and some had less. I love a good throw pillow, but I didn’t want to overflow my bed with pillows especially since I have a furry companion in my bed named Stella who just loves to bury her bones in my bed anywhere she can. When looking for a new duvet the one thing I wanted was to make sure it was mostly cotton. I wanted it to be able to breathe especially during the summer months in New York City. The great thing about my last duvet was it was machine washable, however that is very rare with duvets. I personally like duvets that are either solid or with very minimum pattern on them. Don’t just buy a duvet right when you see it check the other stores like I did that carry the same bedding to check what other items they carry and also for pricing difference. We all know with President’s Day weekend coming up a lot of retailers will be putting bedding on sale. Valentine’s Day Date Night Look

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! I know normally it is Fitness Tuesday here on Just Jodi Style, but today I will be making an exception. With tonight being Valentine’s Day I know some of you will probably wait until the weekend to celebrate with work and everything, but for those of you who are going out tonight I wanted to share with you my perfect Valentine’s date night look. I know that everyone feels like they need to wear something red or pink or colorful because it’s a holiday. I am here to tell you that you don’t need to do that. I always wear something that I feel the most comfortable in and what makes me feel sexy. This look is a simple grey top i purchased from Vince back in college and is flowy which is great especially if you are going somewhere that is a pre fix menu with multiple courses so your stomach can breathe :-). I spiced up the outfit with a sparkly shoe and earring just to give it a little something. For those of us living in the cold weather just throw on a great coat that has a little faux or real fur to keep you warm through the night. This jacket from Annabelle New York is quickly becoming one of my favorites this season. You don’t need much when you are going out with someone or people that you love. The most important thing is to make sure that you feel good about yourself and what you are wearing. I hope everyone has a great holiday today and for those of you who don’t have a special someone it is okay! I personally treated myself and saw 50 Shades Darker at Ipic and had a few glasses of wine and there is nothing wrong with that <3.

Fitness Tuesday in honor of Stella’s Birthday!!

Happy Fitness Tuesday! Today is a very special day for me because it my sweet puppy Stella’s first birthday!! It is crazy to me to think that a year ago on my birthday I put down a deposit for her and now she is already a year old. So today in honor of her birthday I want to talk about fitness with your animal. Now I love to give Stella treats and of course she loves them too, but we also want our pets to be healthy and have tons of energy. I have noticed that for her even after a two hour walk she still is full of energy, but then eventually sleeps. I personally do not go running with Stella everyday, but I have been taking her for casual jogs in Central Park at least once a week since. Thankfully (knock on wood) it hasn’t snowed yet so I am taking full advantage of it. If you are fortunate enough to have a pool anywhere near you and for us New Yorkers an indoor pool take your dog for an occasional swim. All of my family pets have all loved to swim not just because we were in Miami, but because it is great exercise for them. Even though I have seen videos of it and I find it entertaining I have heard that putting a dog on a treadmill isn’t the best idea especially if you turn up the speed on it. Just like Taylor Swift did in the Apple commercial a dog can seriously hurt themselves and fall down. Hope you all have a great Tuesday and again Happy Birthday to my sweet puppy Stella! Colored Denim – #50ShadesOfGrey

It’s Saturday night and what’s a girl to wear when it is freezing outside, but jeans? I have been trying to change up my jean wardrobe from the standard denim or black jeans. I have experimented with colored jeans, but when I saw these grey jeans from 7 for all mankind I absolutely fell in love. Now being as short as I am there is always the dreaded time of finding skinny jeans that are cut just right to the point where you don’t have to go to the tailor to get them hemmed. These jeans from 7 for all mankind are the skinny ankle cut and they are a high rise waist and because of them being ankle skinny I don’t need to get them shortened! It is amazing! Sadly, the high rise ankle skinny this season only came in this color because if it came in other colors I personally would have purchased them all. I love the grey of these jeans because they aren’t too dark that they look like a pair of black jeans that just lost its color and they aren’t too light that you feel as if you are wearing them during the wrong time of the year. When you are looking for a great pair of grey denim take a look at the care label. I personally always wash my jeans inside out and then I let them air dry until they are almost completely dry then I put them in the dryer on a low heat for 20 minutes max. This way they aren’t super stiff when you try to put them on. I know some people may think “am I really going to wear grey jeans enough to invest in an expensive pair?” My answer is yes! I honestly didn’t think I would at first, but now they are my go to going out pair. I can pretty much wear them with anything. I have worn them to casual events and even to fancy dinners as well. A great pair of colored jeans styled correctly can go from day to night. Just like how I have it styled here with suede booties and an off the shoulder t-shirt. This is an outfit that I could go out with my friends in and also could even wear to work on a casual Friday. The opportunities are endless. Go out now and buy a pair of grey denim-before you know it all of the sizes will be gone 🙂

No Scarf? No Problem! Donni Thermal Gigi

Happy Sunday Everyone! Today it is absolutely gorgeous out in NYC. This past week it has slowly been getting colder and finally starting to feel like fall. However, there are still days like today where I walk outside and I can’t decide if I want to wear a scarf or not. One of the major trends that Kendall Jenner has been rocking a lot recently are the neck scarves. One of my favorite scarves from Donni Charm was their the Donni Thermal from a few seasons ago. It looks like a waffle material, but it is so soft you can live in it. When I saw they were making the thermal in the smaller Gigi neck scarf cut I knew I had to buy every color they made. The Thermal Gigi is light and comfortable and being 100% cotton it is the perfect addition to any outfit this fall. Especially when you don’t want to wear a scarf or you just don’t want to have to carry it with you when you are out and about. I personally wear the Thermal Gigi instead of even a necklace sometimes because when I am wearing it out it as if I already have a necklace on. Don’t think that because it is a neck scarf means that it can only be worn one way. You can also wear it where it is just simply laying on your neck and tied once in the front or even in your hair as a headband. There are so many different ways to wear it and use this item. Steals & Deals – Off The Shoulder T

Happy Friday everyone! I was traveling yesterday from Miami back to NYC and didn’t have a chance to post, but don’t worry because I have something exciting to share with you all today. For today’s Steals & Deals I want to share with you this amazing off the shoulder tee from Express. I first saw this shirt while reading a post from Who What Wear. They were showing all the models during New York Fashion Week rocking this simple T and I immediately went to express the next day. In the stores if you dig through the racks you will be able to find them, but hurry fast because they have reduced the price of this amazing T even more! Personally I got a size small because I wasn’t sure how much it was going to shrink after the wash. I have washed it already and it barely shrank at all! Remember for tops like these you need to have a great strapless bra especially one without lace detailing. I only say this because I put on my lace strapless bra under this top and you could see the lace detailing through the shirt. Off the shoulder shirts were a big hit this past summer and going into fall there is no reason why you can’t make this a new staple piece in your wardrobe. In college whenever a trend was really hitting its stride I knew that Express would come out with a similar less affordable version and they really hit it out of the ballpark with this one. They also have amazing bodysuit options if you are more into that type of style. If you haven’t gone already go now! Especially at these prices how can you say no? If you can’t go to the store check out express online and see all of their other amazing off the shoulder options they have available now.

Coachella 2016

This weekend marks the start of the infamous music festival: Coachella! Going to school in Arizona a lot of my friends would go because it was an easy drive there, but sadly I was always too late to get a ticket to it. When it comes to music festival attire the thing that is most important is longevity. A few years ago, I went to Gov Ball on Randall’s island and I knew I was going to be out there all day, but I didn’t expect that it was going to be as hot as it was. Remember: whatever you need you will have to carry with you all day at these music festivals and the merchandise they are also selling on site are obviously marked up tremendously. So it is better to be prepared. First off, wear sneakers because the last thing you want is to come home after a day of wearing sandals or open toe shoes to have your feet be covered with dirt. Secondly, bring something to sit on when you are there, whether it be a little towel or a jacket that you don’t care about, because there are no seats anywhere at these events. Thirdly, bring something for the night time whether it be a scarf or jacket because one thing that nobody tells you is when night falls at these music festivals, it gets chilly. Obviously you don’t want to be wearing a long sleeve shirt all day, but you also don’t want to freeze during the night time. A lightweight scarf is the best go to thing to have because it can be folded up in your purse or backpack and not take up as much space as a jacket. Last but not least, you have to keep hydrated! A lot of these music festivals have free water bottle filling stations and you should use these as much as possible. Bring a refillable water bottle with you and even when you aren’t thirsty just keep drinking. The last thing you want is to get heat stroke or be dehydrated.
