The Perfect Dog Raincoat

November 6, 2017

Happy Monday everyone! First off I apologize that I haven’t posted in a while. Back in August I started a new job and I have been trying to get myself acclimated. It involves a lot of traveling which let me tell you I have a new respect for anyone that travels for work multiple times in a week. I am now done with the traveling portion of my job for a little bit and nothing is better than coming home to my sweet puppy Stella. She is almost two years old and I honestly still pinch myself everyday when I see her because I can’t believe she is all mine. Since getting Stella I have noticed how huge the pet apparel industry truly is, but I also have learned you need to take into consideration one important factor…your dog’s fur. Stella being a toy golden-doodle she is 3/4 poodle and 1/4 golden retriever. Her fur after getting groomed is very fluffy, but eventually turns into these beautiful curls. Most people who I have met shave their doodle’s furs because they are prone to getting matts and terrible knots in them. I have also heard that in some cases for doodles after you shave them then their fur is never the same again. My family has always loved our dog’s hair to be long so I was determined to keep it long. However, this became a problem when shopping for clothing for Stella. The first time it rained in New York City when I got Stella I had a simple rain coat that covered the top of her body with a small strap to go across her belly. This was a standard raincoat that I saw in pretty much every single pet store big or small for rain gear. Upon arriving back to my apartment Stella’s entire legs were soaked and her entire stomach / chest as well. I said there has to be a better option than this. I searched for over a month to find a full raincoat and even considered purchasing a toddlers raincoat in her size, but upon my search I found this gem on Amazon. It is a full yellow raincoat with a hood that has a zipper and buttons and also has black and white stripped lining inside. I have learned from ordering on Amazon dog clothes that most people don’t care if the item covers their dog’s entire back. For me I wanted it to cover as much as possible! The sizing for this suggested she would be a medium so I ordered both a medium and a large. The medium did fit however, because of her fur it constantly would get stuck in the zipper. Needless to say Stella was not pleased with this. I opted to get her a large and it fits perfectly! It’s a little loose under her belly, but I have no problem taking it on and off and aside from the times she does not want to wear the hood on the jacket she stays completely dry! Hurry on over to Amazon now before this amazing dog raincoat goes on backorder again. I guarantee your dog will love it!

Steals & Deals – Pridebites Pt.2

January 27, 2017

Happy Friday! For today’s Steals & Deals I wanted to show you something that I have mentioned before, but it’s worth mentioning again. Since getting a dog I can not tell you how hard it has been to find sweaters, beds, blankets and anything you can think of that I truly loved. I have found few things that I have liked from Petco and Petsmart, but there was always something about the items I purchased that just didn’t foot the bill. Pridebites which was actually co created by one of my brothers best friends and was also featured on Sharktank is the place to go. My dog Stella is always decked out in Pridebites gear and she knows that the items are hers. They have everything from dog toys to puffy jackets for your dog this winter. You can also customize everything on their website. I personally have a frisbee dog toy with Stella’s face on it and it is the cutest thing that I have ever purchased not just for her but for myself. If you go to their website now and make a purchase before checking out enter in the code Stellabear for a 20% off discount to your entire purchase. I have suggested this website to over a dozen people now and they all are just as much in love with Pridebites as I am. One person even emailed me saying that her toy poodle who never would wear sweaters in the winter because she hated every single one now refuses to take off her Pridebites sweater when she gets home from her walks. Another happy pup! Don’t forget to use the code Stellabear <3 If you don’t follow already please follow stella on instagram @HowStellaGotHerWoofBack

Hump Day Treat – Dog Cakes

December 7, 2016

Happy Wednesday Everyone! So if you saw yesterday’s post you know that it was my sweet puppy Stella’s 1st birthday! Now I didn’t have the chance to throw her a birthday party ( Yes that is a thing dog birthday parties don’t laugh) and I wanted to make her birthday extra special. I had previously taken Stella to her first birthday party for her puppy friend Oliver and his mom had got him a cake made from a bakery in the city. Now I didn’t think of getting a cake made until this past weekend and I knew it would be too late to order one so I thought why not make one myself? How hard could it really be? I searched different stores to get a cake pan in the shape of a dog bone first, but since it was just for Stella I opted out to make 3 small pie ones instead of one large one. Thanks to food.com for the recipe Stella really did enjoy it and still this morning is looking to see if she left any crumbs on the ground 🙂

Ingredients:

1 egg

¼ cup peanut butter ( I used skippy natural creamy)

¼ cup cooking oil ( I personally used vegetable oil)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

⅓ cup of honey (optional but I personally used it)

1 cup carrot, shredded

1 cup whole wheat flour ( if you don’t have whole wheat flour then use white flour but it’s better with whole wheat flour)

1 teaspoon baking soda

Directions:

1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees

2.Grease your baking pans that you chose to use. For me I chose 3 small disposable pie tins.

3.Combine the egg, peanut butter, oil, vanilla and honey (if you use honey) in a large bowl. Blend well

4.Stir in the carrots and mix thoroughly

5.Now add in the flour and baking soda and mix it all together fully

6.Spoon the batter into prepared pans. To make the batter flat in the pan just lift it up and lightly tap it to the counter surface. I personally do this when I get froyo in order to add more into my cup!

7.If you want add on top a milkbone, but don’t push it into the cake just place it nicely on top of the batter

8.Bake in oven for 40 minutes

9.Take out cakes and let them cool in pan for 10 minutes then if you have put on a wire rack to cool completely or onto a different plate.

Hope all of your furry friends enjoy this cake! Stella for sure did <3

April 8, 2016

IMG_3830 IMG_4962

It’s Friday and you know what that means… It’s steals and deals day!! Today I want to talk about an amazing company called Pride Bites. Pride Bites was started by one of my brother Ira’s really good friends from college. When I got my precious toy goldendoodle I knew that I didn’t want her to just have any bed but I wanted her to know it was hers. For all of you pet lovers out there, Pride Bites’ toys are INDESTRUCTIBLE! You heard that right: their toys are indestructible! Even for the most unruly of pets, these toys survive. Every item on Pride Bites’ website is also able to be customized. You can even upload an image of your pet to put onto the items you customize. I got my puppy, Stella, a custom crate bed, bed, toy box, and placemat to go under her bowls and blanket. She absolutely loves all of them!!  Yes I may have gone a little overboard, but when you see the stuff you would too. Stella knew exactly when I put her bed down that it was hers and fell asleep on it right away.  I didn’t order her a custom toy until recently because I wanted her to grow into her puppy face. I just recently placed my order for a custom Frisbee toy with her face on it and I can’t wait to see how it turns out☺. The best thing about Pride Bites is that they have amazing customer service and did I mention that their items are so cute? They always give amazing coupon codes so if you spend $100 on their site at any time, you get $25 off your order with the promo code: 25NOW.  Tonight they are going on Shark Tank to try and see if the sharks bite to invest in their amazing company. If you love their toys get them now before they get backed up with orders!. I am not just saying all of this because my brother knows the owner, but I truly believe that their products are so unique and different, that everyone needs to go and check them out right now! You heard it hear first! Head on over to Pridebites.com and get all of your dog goodies<3 If you don’t already you all should follow my dog Stella on instagram @HowStellaGotHerWoofBack
