Mother’s Day Week – Bucket Bag

Happy Thursday! I think all fashionistas can agree that one of the major brands to come out in the past few years is Manusr Gavriel. When they first came out their bags would sell out immediately and it sometimes took over 2 months for them to come back in stock. Bucket bags have been in style for years and Mansur Gavriel has brought them back from the dead. My Mom has a custom green bucket bag that she had made over 30 years ago on her honeymoon and it still looks brand new! If your Mom this holiday has been lusting over a new bag this is a  great one for her. My Uncle’s got me the mini bucket bag for my birthday this year and I am obsessed with it. The regular bucket bag is significantly bigger and comes with a small pouch as well, but I personally didn’t want a huge bag to carry around on a daily basis. I did try on the mini mini bucket bag and yes my Iphone 6s Plus fit inside the bag, but not much else did. I personally would get my Mom the bucket bag, but in black with silver interior or the navy. This bag is so elegant and yes because of the kind of leather it does get scratched up easily, but honestly all bags get marks on them eventually over time. Just as long as you take care of your bag and put it away properly you won’t have any problems. I am stickler for putting my bags back in their purse bags they come in and I would especially do it for this bag as well so it doesn’t get any additional scratches in your closet. Steals & Deals – Ear Cuffs

Happy Friday! Back in 2013 the biggest trend to come out of the earring game was the ear cuff. Now as I have told you all before my Mom is the queen of finding the hottest trends at a fraction of the cost. She purchased me these beautiful diamond ear cuffs from Graziela Gems and they are even more beautiful in person. They are so comfortable and so easy to wear with pretty much everything that I own. Back then they were on sale due to the impending holiday season, but they now have a special collection on QVC. They are all under $100 and compared to their full retail collection this is a HUGE STEAL! If you are still looking for a great pair of ear cuffs these are the ones you need to snag up immediately. I love the fact that instead of a simple closure with just an earring backing they are a clip closure for pierced ears. The Classic Belt – Gucci

Happy Monday! This last week I have felt under the weather, but I am so glad to finally start to feel back to my normal self. This past year for my birthday I knew exactly what I wanted and that was the fashion it girl approved Gucci buckle belt. The first time I saw it in the stores it was the larger buckle size and to be perfectly honest I thought it was too big for me. I did not realize that it came in a smaller size until I saw it online on the Gucci website. I was able to track one down in Miami and after adding two holes to it the belt fit perfectly! When purchasing belts I used to in the past by just simple faux leather ones from H&M or from the Gap, but I think now that I am older that I should invest in more high quality belts. My Mom used to purchase my brother and my belts from Gap as kids because for our school uniforms it was required to wear a belt. I personally think she just did that not knowing how much we were going to grow from year to year. If you are going to purchase a belt like this Gucci one I suggest solid colors like black or brown. Its always difficult when it comes to the neutral colors because sometimes a belt may seem to dark of a brown or even too light of a tan that you can’t match it with anything. This is the main reason why I haven’t purchased a brown belt myself. I haven’t found one that matches with everything that I own. I honestly don’t wear a ton of gold, but when it came to this belt I realize that even though I may be wearing majority of silver jewelry the belt worked with my outfit such as the one I am wearing above. Sadly they don’t have my belt online anymore in the small buckle size, but they have a multitude of options to choose from. Hope everyone has a great Monday! One Year Of Just Jodi Style

Happy Tuesday! Normally today I would focus on fitness Tuesday, but today is a very special day to me. A year ago today I officially launched Just Jodi Style into the world and my what a year it has been. I personally just want to thank my family and friends for all of your love and support through this past year. I don’t know what I would have done without all of you by my side. I hope all of you have enjoyed what I have posted this past year and will continue on this amazing journey with me. Today I am spending the day cuddling up with my sweet puppy Stella in our pajamas trying to stay warm from this lovely snow storm we are having here in New York City. Yes I know the snowstorm is also named Stella just like my puppy. I didn’t know the name of the storm until my brother informed me yesterday afternoon and I didn’t believe him until he sent me a weather report link showing me. Hope everyone has a great day and for the rest of us in New York stay warm and only go outside if it is an absolute emergency. <3

Comfy Casual Night In

In college Thursday nights were always a big going out night, but since I have gotten older I enjoy at least one night in on the weekends. Especially nights in cuddling with my sweet puppy Stella. However, just because you are staying in doesn’t mean you don’t have to be wearing sweats around the house. There is always a way to look cute even when you are just staying home. There are so many different ways you can take comfy casual and there is no right or wrong way. Most people would say if you are just spending the night in on your couch watching movies that jeans are not ideal for this, but I disagree. There are so many different pairs of jeans that almost feel like leggings and aren’t rigid like most jeans. These type of jeans are perfect for a night in because they aren’t as constricting as a normal pair of jeans. On top of a pair of jeans pair it with a comfy shirt not super tight, but not too loose that you look like you are just wearing an oversized sleep t-shirt. I know you all know what I am talking about those t-shirts from college that were great to wear to sporting games, but now are faded and way too big. If you have one of those that isn’t too big you can cut it up like the shirt I am wearing above. It will spice up your t-shirt and if you cut it wrong you can just continue to wear it as a sleep shirt. Pair your comfy look with a great pair of slides if you are going over to a friends house or just want to break in a new pair of shoes and you are good to go! Stella seems to be very comfy for our night in with her custom Donni Charm plaid bandana. Maybe if I am lucky she will let me take it off before she goes to bed. 🙂 <3

Valentine’s Day Date Night Look

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! I know normally it is Fitness Tuesday here on Just Jodi Style, but today I will be making an exception. With tonight being Valentine’s Day I know some of you will probably wait until the weekend to celebrate with work and everything, but for those of you who are going out tonight I wanted to share with you my perfect Valentine’s date night look. I know that everyone feels like they need to wear something red or pink or colorful because it’s a holiday. I am here to tell you that you don’t need to do that. I always wear something that I feel the most comfortable in and what makes me feel sexy. This look is a simple grey top i purchased from Vince back in college and is flowy which is great especially if you are going somewhere that is a pre fix menu with multiple courses so your stomach can breathe :-). I spiced up the outfit with a sparkly shoe and earring just to give it a little something. For those of us living in the cold weather just throw on a great coat that has a little faux or real fur to keep you warm through the night. This jacket from Annabelle New  York is quickly becoming one of my favorites this season. You don’t need much when you are going out with someone or people that you love. The most important thing is to make sure that you feel good about yourself and what you are wearing. I hope everyone has a great holiday today and for those of you who don’t have a special someone it is okay! I personally treated myself and saw 50 Shades Darker at Ipic and had a few glasses of wine and there is nothing wrong with that <3.

Steals & Deals: The Over The Knee Heeled Boot

Happy Friday! For today’s Steals & Deals I want to discuss one of the hottest trends this season…the over the knee boot. We have seen everyone wear them from the Hadid sisters to almost every fashion blogger out there. I was lucky enough to get a pair of the Stuart Weitzman Highland boots in black suede for my birthday, but not everyone wants to spend that much on a pair of shoes. I have learned that even if you waterproof your shoes the one thing that will destroy them is the salt that everyone puts on the sidewalks to melt the snow. So if you get that on your new boots that are weather proofed just take a towel or napkin and wipe off the salt. If you do that within 12 hours you should be good to go.  If you are still in the market for a pair it is not too late to get yourself a pair. Head on over now before they all disappear.

Splurge Worthy Wedding Clutch

Happy Thursday! Hope everyone is gearing up for the Superbowl this Sunday and has done all of the food shopping that they need. February seems to be one of the most popular months to get married. Obviously because of Valentine’s Day, but also because of President’s Day Weekend. In a few weeks I am going to be going to Arizona to watch one of my best friends from college marry the love her life and I am so excited that I will be there. I haven’t been back to Arizona since I graduated college in December 2012 so needless to say I have my list of places I want to hit before I leave. The other day I started to go through my closet to plan out my outfits for the wedding weekend. One of the first purchases I made for myself years ago was this amazing black patent bag from Louis Vuitton. It has card holders in the front of the bag as well as a zipper inside, but it also comes with detachable strap! When it comes to a wedding bag I know I have said this before, but it is 100% worth the splurge. I have worn this bag out with the strap to dinners in New York City and then as a clutch to engagement parties and weddings. It is so versatile and even though there is gold hardware on it in some lightings you can’t even tell so  you can also get away with silver jewelry as well. If you are looking for a classic wedding clutch and aren’t sure what to purchase this is perfect for you. Anything black patent is great because it is a classic look that will never go out of style. The Quilted Handbag

Happy Thursday! Back in college the one thing that every girl wanted a Chanel quilted bag, but my mom wasn’t going to send me to college with such an expensive bag that I would potentially ruin on a night out. Instead she found something that had the same look, but more than half the cost. This Rebecca Minkoff quilted affair bag is one of my go to bags on days when it is so gross outside especially in New York City now with all of this rain that we have been having. This specific version is no longer sold in stores anymore, however they do have a smaller version on the Bloomingdales website. I have personally worn my bag during some major snow storms and some pretty terrible rain and it has held up through it all. If you are looking for a great going out bag that has the look of a classic Chanel bag Rebecca Minkoff is the place to go. All of their bags are so classic and are amazing quality. I have truly seen a great change in her designs and work in the past 5 years and I am an avid customer. When I couldn’t find this bag back in college my mom was able to find it thanks to Zappos. If you are having trouble finding any bag that seems to be sold out everywhere online check Zappos website. More than likely they have the bag or at least that is what has happened to me in the past. I paired my bag with a simple pair of black jeans and a chambray top with black loafers for an easy casual going out look. Tribal Sweater

 

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend and is having a great day so far. This winter I have seen a lot of different trends when it came to sweater patterns, but the one that I am currently loving is the tribal patterns. I got this amazing cashmere sweater from 360cashmere from the Rocky Barnes collection. It is currently no longer available however, there are still some amazing pieces left from the Rocky Barnes collaboration. When looking for a tribal sweater I suggest to try and go with max 3 colors for the pattern part as this sweater is black, white, beige and the actual sweater is grey. The point of tribal patterns is its suppose to be different, but you don’t want it to be too busy that it is almost distracting. Personally all my closet is either black, white or neutral colors this worked perfectly with my wardrobe. This is also why I loved this tribal sweater. If I had purchased one that was colors that I normally wouldn’t wear and too many of them I know that I would probably wear it once then it would sit in the back of my closet the rest of the season. If you aren’t sure if this trend is for you I suggest going to some of the fast fashion retailers and testing out the waters on what you like and don’t like.
