Mother’s Day Week – Fitness Tuesday

Happy Tuesday! Normally on Just Jodi Style today would be Fitness Tuesday, but with Mother’s day around the corner I wanted to focus on a Mother’s Day fitness gift idea. Now personally I know that my mom wouldn’t come with me to SoulCycle or any of my work out classes, but she prefers to work out at home. I have previously posted about how she loves to take the stairs everyday in my parents office building as her form of exercise for the week, but not everyone has that luxury to do that. One of my friends recently told me that her Mom saw Khloe Kardashian using an ab roller wheel in one of her workouts and she wanted on herself. Now before I ever tell my Mom about any at home work out I like to test it out myself to see if I enjoy and also to make sure she it isn’t too much for her. This ab roller wheel I got from Amazon and it was only $15!!! First off such a steal at that price and secondly it was very easy to put together. It came in a small box and just a few pieces and I was rolling my way to flatter abs. I have noticed that the ab roller does work better and easier while using it on my carpet vs the hardwood floors. On the hardwood floors I felt like anytime I moved over a crack in the wood I felt like I was going over a speed bump. However, this is also difficult on marble floors because you don’t have as much control with the ab roller wheel as you would on carpet. I have personally bought one for my home in Miami for my Mom, but shh she doesn’t know it yet so nobody tell her please 🙂 . Fitness Tuesday: Vitamins

Happy Fitness Tuesday! Now anyone that knows me knows that my Mom is a licensed nurse, but doesn’t practice anymore. My brother and I have been known to call her the pez dispenser of vitamin C. She always has some on her and she takes it every single day multiple times a day. Something that people don’t realize is certain vitamins you can take as much as you want of with no true effect on you. For example Vitamin C you can take ideally as much as you want and whatever your body doesn’t utilize you will just go to the bathroom. I personally take 2 to 3,000 MG of vitamin C everyday. On top of this I also take a Vitamin D3 pill. I started taking this pill after I moved to New York. Growing up in Florida and then going to school in Arizona where I was always tan 365 days out of the year I didn’t need it. Depending on the time of the year determines how much I take of my Vitamin D pill, but we are all a little deficient in Vitamin D so it doesn’t hurt to take one small pill of it daily. On top of all of that I take a Magnesium pill everyday. This is highly suggested for all of you who work out frequently. This helps with your muscles and just in general. After I took this one cross training class for the first time I was so sore for about a week it hurt to even sit down on a chair. My Mom and brother then said to go and get some Magnesium pills and it will help with my muscles. Sure enough it helped overnight. Now everyone is different and some people don’t like taking vitamins, but as I have gotten older I have learned that whether I liked it or not I had to take them. I know that it is important to take care of your body and the sooner your start the better. I purchase a lot of my vitamins from Amazon and the brands that I like are Nature Made and Nature’s Bounty. You can also get a lot of these vitamins in bulk at Costco! Hope everyone has a great day <3

Steals & Deals – Faux Suede Bodysuit

Happy Friday!!! Today is the last Friday before Christmas and Channukah and I hope everyone has found their perfect gifts for the special people in their lives. If you are still looking for a great outfit to wear for the upcoming holiday parties and for New Years Eve look no further than this Steals & Deals. As you all already can guess from previous posts I love bodysuits. They are so easy to wear and just make an outfit simple and easy. I found this amazing faux suede bodysuit from Charlotte Russe and it is only $15!!! They used to have it in this light purple grey color like the one I am wearing, but now they only have it in a burgundy color. I am very tempted to buy it in this color as well because it just fits so well! The burgundy is also a great color for holiday time because it isn’t a true red, but still festive. This bodysuit is great to pair with a pair of mid rise or high waisted jeans with or without a belt or you can even pair it with a skirt. I hate having to tuck in a shirt when I wear pants, shorts or a skirt because it always seems to bunch up around my waist and just not lay correctly. This bodysuit fits like a glove! If you are concerned about how low cut it is and not revealing too much my suggestion is to use fashion tape. When I wore this out the first time I used fashion tape. Since the straps aren’t adjustable and I did not have time to go and get it altered I used fashion tape by the chest area and it worked perfectly! The top did not move out of place the entire evening that I wore it. Most pharmacy in the beauty section carry fashion tape, but if you can’t find it they also have it on Amazon Prime. Pair it with a simple necklace like the one I have on and you are all set. Hope everyone who is traveling this holiday weekend travels safe and gets everything that they want and more. <3

Steals & Deals: Halloween

Happy Friday everyone! We all know what that means: It’s time for some steals & deals but this week, halloween style! Right now if you go to party city online and order any costume they are up to 80% off! They have done this in the past and yes they do get you on the shipping because who doesn’t want their costume on time? BUT I have heard people that have gone into the store and they show the online price and if you get a really nice in store employee they will match the online price! Another great place to get a cheap halloween costume is Target! Yes, Target! One of my friends went to Target and got footie adult pajamas and because it wasn’t considered a halloween costume it was a fairly good price and they had a ton of sizes left for her. For me, every time I go halloween shopping I never seem to find a costume in my size since by the time I figure out what I want to be there is nothing left. Another great place to look for costumes is on Amazon. If you are a prime member this is the day to use it and get it by Monday for halloween. If you are like me and live in the city, check Prime Now. Since there is a warehouse right outside the city I am sure they have a lot of inventory on hand for the holiday. Fitness Tuesday – Fitness at your desk

Now, I know I am fortunate enough that I can sit on my couch and be able to write my blog posts, but I know what it feels like to have to sit at a desk all day feeling like you aren’t getting your workout in for the day. I have seen all the different ideas from the standing desk with the treadmills attached, to sitting on the big bouncy balls, but sometimes you don’t have the space for those things. This got my brother and I thinking about our mom. We wanted to get something one year for her to use in her office, that was small enough that it wouldn’t take up so much room for her. This under desk foot pedal from amazon is a great alternative to all of these big bulky items. It allows you to still have a little work out while you are sitting at your desk. Since my brother and I got this for my mom, I have seen and heard of so many other people that have gotten this for themselves to have at work. Especially with winter approaching, we may not have the energy to trek to the gym with it being so cold out, but this gives you no excuse. This is a great alternative to not working out at all and keeping your blood flow moving. It may not be the same as attending a 45 minute workout class, but it will keep you energized throughout your entire day at work. Check out Amazon for some great options for under the desk pedals. Even though it is almost October it is still nice enough outside to go to the park.I try to go every other week with Stella because, let’s be honest, she loves the park. When she went to Central Park the first time she was so excited she couldn’t stop running around the big open spaces. She didn’t even want to stop for a treat! When a dog refuses a treat that is when you truly know that they are having a good time. I always hate having to pack a bag though for the park because I always feel like I am forgetting something. One of the things that I recently found on Amazon is this foldable picnic blanket. It is honestly one of the best purchases I have made this summer. It feels like a fleece material so it is thick and is big enough to fit about 6 – 8 people on it comfortably! And when you are done with the blanket it folds right back up and even comes with a trusty little handle on it. Remember the park is dirty so you should also make sure that when looking for these foldable blankets online that they are ones that can be machine washed to ensure that you aren’t bringing any bugs into your home. It’s Friday, so you know what that means? Steals & Deals day!! Every guy knows it’s hard to shop for their girlfriends, especially when it comes to buying jewelry. My boyfriend seemed to have landed the jackpot every single time he has purchased me a gift. He is the type of guy that enjoys experiences more as gifts than an actual physical gift, but knows that you should have something to remember the experience by. For my first birthday we celebrated together, he got me a beautiful black and white diamond penguin necklace and a one-on-one time with a Penguin at a zoo out in Long Island. Something you should know about me is that I am obsessed with penguins because they are just so cute and if I could be like Mr. Popper in Mr. Popper’s penguins I would own my own. This necklace was so beautiful, but I of course didn’t want him spending so much on me. Ripped Jeans + Tights

Ripped jeans while it is cold out? That used to be a major no-no for me because if it’s cold out you want to stay as warm as possible. However, there is a way to wear ripped jeans in the cold too! This season I have been wearing my ripped 7 for all mankind denim jeans with tights underneath them and it has been life changing! I sometimes would wear tights underneath my jeans in general just to keep me warm, but there are only so many times you can wear jeans out during winter when you just want to wear a great pair of ripped jeans. These 7 for all mankind jeans, I purchased in the fall of 2012 and they still look great! When it comes to jeans I always seem to go back to a few brands and 7 is one of them. They are such great quality that I have even had a pair since I was in high school that I still wear today! Crazy to think that a pair of jeans from High School still fit me, but I kid you not they fit and look great. The tights I am wearing have a little something that many tights I have seen have: they have socks attached to them! Yes you read that correctly, they have socks attached to them and they are the best pair of tights I have ever owned! Depending on how thick you normally wear your socks with your boots you may need to add an additional thin sock when wearing your boots, but for me the sock that is attached to the tights is enough. They come in a multitude of shades and styles and are even available on Amazon! So if you were thinking that you can’t wear those ripped jeans just yet, well…problem solved!
