Bag + Wallet = Perfection!

Happy Thursday! I can’t believe that we are already in November it still hasn’t hit me yet. One the hardest things for girls to do when preparing for a night out is to find a bag that can fit everything you need in it. This Louis Vuitton bag the Pouchette Felicie is my new go to bag right now. It comes with two additional items on top of this great bag! There is a small pouch inside with a zipper that I put things in there like hair ties or other things that I don’t want loose in my bag. Then there is another flat wallet that you can put all your credit cards in and also your cash. Since I have the Iphone plus I always have to pick which items to take out of my purse in order to fit my phone. This bag fits everything in it and my phone with room to spare. It comes in a variation of color options, but I choose the classic LV pattern with a pop of a dark pink inside. This bag is also great because you can unclip the chain and use it as a clutch if you want. This is one of those investment pieces that I think is worth every penny. On another note I am personally am so excited to go to the Louis Vuitton exhibit in the financial district when I return to New York City after thanksgiving. It tells the whole history of the brand and I have seen videos posted from the museum and it looks AMAZING!  For all of those in NYC bundle up because this weekend looks like it going to be a cold one.

Summer White Top

It’s finally Thursday which means one more day until the weekend! Unless some of us took off this entire week due to the holiday. Last summer I was on the hunt for the perfect white top. The problem with a white top especially during summer is even though we all don’t want to admit it, but we sweat. In New York City it gets unbearably hot during the summer and I know that I am not the only one that sometimes takes two showers a day because of the heat. Since it gets so hot its almost impossible to find a white top that doesn’t show that you are sweating through it. I found this top at Bloomingdales on their sale rack with no label just a price tag on it.  Crazy I know that it didn’t have a label but for $25 it was exactly what I was looking for. When looking for a summer white top try to find something that is breathable, but not sheer. This top with its tiered layers and detailing with also the layer of what feels like silk, but I am sure isn’t shows all the amazing details of the top without any sweat marks. I love how it is short enough to look like it is a crop top, but long enough that it covers my entire stomach. When on your hunt for the perfect white top take a picture with the flash on outside the dressing room. I say this because it is a fact that dressing rooms have different lighting and mirrors than what we have at home. Also we have seen it too many times happen to celebrities on red carpets where all the sudden their clothes are now see through. YIKES! If you are like me you don’t mind wearing a strapless bra even during the summer. My other suggestion is to bring or wear a strapless bra when you are out shopping because the last thing you want is to buy a top thinking that it can be worn with a strapless bra and then it doesn’t work once you try it all on at home. Then you will have to go all the way back to the store to return the top or you will just let it sit in your closet forever… If you haven’t already check out some of the major department stores this week. Throwback Thursday – Overalls

Today I thought I would bring back an outfit that I probably wore on repeat in 4th grade any chance I could. What outfit am I talking about? Overalls! I had my favorite pair of denim overalls that I wore at least once a week to school maybe even more my entire 4th grade year. I still remember my Dad trying to get me to buy a different pair of overalls so I could switch it up and I wouldn’t budge. Finally once they got a hole in them it was time to say goodbye. Recently I have been spotting the trend everywhere from H&M all the way to Bloomingdales. One of my favorite bloggers is WeWoreWhat and when I heard she had created a line of overalls I was desperate to get my hands on a pair of them. I luckily was able to snag two pairs of her coveted Second Skin Overalls including this pair that I am wearing. These are her high waisted black skinny overalls and I am OBSESSED!!! They are so comfortable and fit so well that I don’t want to take them off. Being that I am only 5’2 1/2 (yes that 1/2 of an inch is very important) I always struggle to find things that fit me properly. I always seem to have to take any pair of jeans or jumpsuits to the tailor, but for the first time in a long time I didn’t have to. These overalls fit me perfectly without any need to take them in to a professional. I personally never realized how versatile overalls truly were until now. You can wear these overalls with sneakers, slides, flats, booties, heels or even sandals. The tricky part is finding the proper top to go underneath. For me I have worn body suits under it, off the shoulder tops, crop tops and also tight tanks that tuck in on the sides. The tank that I am wearing is a looser fitting tank from GAP and it is tight on top, but not as tight as a form fitting tank. If you are purchasing from Second Skin Overalls I suggest ordering two sizes. In one of the overalls from a previous collection I was a size XS, but for these I wore a size small. If you are concerned with the $ of these overalls I am here to tell you that it is worth every penny, but if you aren’t sure if you will wear them often check out stores like Forever 21 and H&M for less expensive options. Steals & Deals – Gucci Loafers

 

Happy Friday! I know that in the past I have posted a similar Steals & Deals post regarding the Gucci loafers with fur, but this is different. I have personally fallen in love with the Gucci Princetown Loafers since purchasing my first pair in black leather. They are the most comfortable slides I have ever own in my entire life. You can quote me on that one. However, not everyone wants to spend the money on the Gucci loafers if they don’t think they are going to wear them that often. I have found 4 other amazing options for you all if you still want the Gucci loafer look, but not the Gucci loafer price tag. This loafer comes in so many colors I can’t even count!  Steve Madden make  a similar pair that has a small gold buckle on the front like the Gucci loafers called the LAAURA for only $89.95.  If that didn’t get you excited take a look at Topshop. They also makes a suede pair called the Alexa for only $52. But WAIT! It gets even better….I know everyone is loving the metallic shoe trend and if you head on over to River Island website their gold leather backless loafers are get this $50!!! Memorial Day Outfit Prep

Happy Thursday! Today I got my hair colored and went from red back to having my blonde ombre just in time for summer. With Memorial Day being next weekend I am getting all of my outfits ready for the big weekend. There are some essential items that you will need for the holiday weekend whether you are going away or staying in town. Here are some of the things you should make sure you have: a great pair of white jeans, a cold shoulder top with a great strapless bra, a small clutch and a great pair of sandals. If you don’t have any of these items I would go out and get them ASAP! I say this out of love because I know what it feels like not to have these clutch items. I went shopping in a panic out in New York City and yes New York one of the fashion capitals of the world has everything however when it comes to major holidays. You will notice that when summer comes along right before the actual weekend these items like white jeans sell out in mostly every single size. These are staple items that you will not only wear Memorial Day weekend, but all summer long. I know we are all waiting for these huge Memorial Day sale however, a lot of stores do offer pre sale for certain items if you ask. I have personally done this numerous times at Bloomingdales during their Friends & Family if I didn’t need the item right away. If you don’t know where to begin when it comes to shopping for next weekend I suggest you all head on over to Gap, H&M or Forever 21. These are great store options that have so many options right now and at great prices. For all of those in New York City I hope that all of you are safe after todays’ horrible accident in Times Square. Always be aware of your surroundings and make sure to pay attention always. Birthstone Necklaces – Opal

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great Mother’s Day yesterday and spoiled your Mom’s rotten. I personally got my Mom a beautiful Michael Aram picture frame with a photo of both myself and Stella inside. Needless to say she loved it and it is already up in my house in Miami. Growing up I never understood what my birthstone was. I thought it was just a white stone with a bunch of colors mixed into it, but over the years I have learned that there are different colors of my birthstone. I was born on October 21st, 1989 and my birthstone is the Opal. I never liked my birthstone as a child because everyone would get me the same similar pieces with the white opal with a bunch of blue or purple sparks in them. I have never in my line purchased something with my birthstone in it until now. Adina Reyter has become one of my favorite jewelry designers for many reasons this being one of them. Her pieces are so delicate and simple, but also everyone notices you when you wear them. While working one of the trade shows last fall I passed by her booth and was fortunate enough to meet her in person. I asked her what her favorite pieces were of her entire collection both new and old and she pointed to me this opal necklace. I then proceeded to tell her that it was my birthstone and how I don’t wear any jewelry with my birthstone ever. She then let me try on the necklace and I fell in love. It sat so perfectly on my collar bone and was so small and simple that it was just the right amount of sparkle. I purchased it right then and there and since then I pretty much wear it every single day. Shocking that I went from never wearing my birthstone to now wearing it on a daily basis. One Year Of Just Jodi Style

Happy Tuesday! Normally today I would focus on fitness Tuesday, but today is a very special day to me. A year ago today I officially launched Just Jodi Style into the world and my what a year it has been. I personally just want to thank my family and friends for all of your love and support through this past year. I don’t know what I would have done without all of you by my side. I hope all of you have enjoyed what I have posted this past year and will continue on this amazing journey with me. Today I am spending the day cuddling up with my sweet puppy Stella in our pajamas trying to stay warm from this lovely snow storm we are having here in New York City. Yes I know the snowstorm is also named Stella just like my puppy. I didn’t know the name of the storm until my brother informed me yesterday afternoon and I didn’t believe him until he sent me a weather report link showing me. Hope everyone has a great day and for the rest of us in New York stay warm and only go outside if it is an absolute emergency. <3

Comfy Casual Night In

In college Thursday nights were always a big going out night, but since I have gotten older I enjoy at least one night in on the weekends. Especially nights in cuddling with my sweet puppy Stella. However, just because you are staying in doesn’t mean you don’t have to be wearing sweats around the house. There is always a way to look cute even when you are just staying home. There are so many different ways you can take comfy casual and there is no right or wrong way. Most people would say if you are just spending the night in on your couch watching movies that jeans are not ideal for this, but I disagree. There are so many different pairs of jeans that almost feel like leggings and aren’t rigid like most jeans. These type of jeans are perfect for a night in because they aren’t as constricting as a normal pair of jeans. On top of a pair of jeans pair it with a comfy shirt not super tight, but not too loose that you look like you are just wearing an oversized sleep t-shirt. I know you all know what I am talking about those t-shirts from college that were great to wear to sporting games, but now are faded and way too big. If you have one of those that isn’t too big you can cut it up like the shirt I am wearing above. It will spice up your t-shirt and if you cut it wrong you can just continue to wear it as a sleep shirt. Pair your comfy look with a great pair of slides if you are going over to a friends house or just want to break in a new pair of shoes and you are good to go! Stella seems to be very comfy for our night in with her custom Donni Charm plaid bandana. Maybe if I am lucky she will let me take it off before she goes to bed. 🙂 <3

Tribal Sweater

 

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend and is having a great day so far. This winter I have seen a lot of different trends when it came to sweater patterns, but the one that I am currently loving is the tribal patterns. I got this amazing cashmere sweater from 360cashmere from the Rocky Barnes collection. It is currently no longer available however, there are still some amazing pieces left from the Rocky Barnes collaboration. When looking for a tribal sweater I suggest to try and go with max 3 colors for the pattern part as this sweater is black, white, beige and the actual sweater is grey. The point of tribal patterns is its suppose to be different, but you don’t want it to be too busy that it is almost distracting. Personally all my closet is either black, white or neutral colors this worked perfectly with my wardrobe. This is also why I loved this tribal sweater. If I had purchased one that was colors that I normally wouldn’t wear and too many of them I know that I would probably wear it once then it would sit in the back of my closet the rest of the season. If you aren’t sure if this trend is for you I suggest going to some of the fast fashion retailers and testing out the waters on what you like and don’t like.
