The Perfect Black Bootie

When I moved to NYC in August of 2013 I knew I wasn’t going to be able to wear my heels out at night once winter came along so I was on the hunt for the perfect black bootie. My mom who is very classic with her style wanted me to have a pair of booties that were timeless. She surprised me with these gorgeous Louis Vuitton booties when I came home for Thanksgiving break that year. Sometimes when it comes to staple pieces you should invest a little more $ into those pieces because they are ones that you will have from season to season. When looking for a black bootie you want something with a little bit of a platform for comfort, but not too tall as if you are going to be wearing them in the snow / rain. The last thing you want is  to have problems walking when its snowing outside or even raining. One thing that I will not forget living in New York is to water proof all of my leather shoes. If you go to amazon.com this Meltonian Water and Stain Protector spray is a great product. Make sure you open your windows or put on a fan while doing it because it is a very potent smell. It says on the bottle to apply two coats but I use the entire bottle when I weather proof a pair of shoes normally :-). Just out of precaution and so I don’t have to re apply mid season. I suggest applying a new coat every season if you wear the shoes a lot, but if not every other season to keep your shoes like brand new!
